Have you tried carbon sapphire? That’s probably the best from the house and one of the best rose oud fragrances out there, in my opinion.

I prefer Dead of Night over Nebulous and the Night in Oud rose category.

Have you seen or tried the new bortnikoff line? Kinam oud, oud hindi and oud malinau. I've bought the oud hindi and it's become my new favorite from the brand even more then maximus. It's a cherry oud mix that's insane I don't really enjoy the cherry trend but this one is just so suttle and beautiful truly smells like a cherry tree with the dirt and the flowers and then the fruit just wow

I do not respect this brand at all. I actually thought it was a sick joke when I tried their perfumes at extremely high prices and the quality was PDM level. I hope they disappear, probably the brand I despise the most. If you want to charge 1k and more, offer me masterpieces like Diaghilev or leave me alone. Love the work, Ram! Cheers!

Thanks for the honest review. what drives me crazy is how many offerings from BTV as essentially dupes of other established fragrances. Example: Comparing Hanuman to Bal d’Afrique is insane. Hanuman costs 5.5 times as much. I’m personally not even a fan of Provenzano as a perfumer, as he has so many copy fragrances. I feel like BTV as some other ostentatious British houses (Roger Bird cough) are for people that want to maintain their elitist mindset. So they can say, ‘I have something that you can’t afford.’ Why wouldn’t I just buy expensive silverware or crystal glasses rather than buy a fragrance for the extravagant bottle?

Yes I sort of agree with you especially on the Provenzano thing... there is a house I haven't even heard of from India that sent me some fragrances recently and surprisingly Provenzano was the perfumer lol He is so ubiquitous

As you said Ram I’m also a LOVER of rose Oud. Having many in my collection, cheap and more expensive. But this was a HELL NO. So thankful I bought the sample and not the full presentation because I would have been livid 😂

I haven't gone so intricate in my testing with Nebulous but to my nose it's part of a pack of similar vibe fragrances : Nebulous, FM The Night (not Dawn), Electimuss- Octavian and Pana Dora - Grand Musk (which awkwardly is oud-rose, not musk). Same backbone, different twists. I for one like Nebulous, do I like it for $1860 which is the price in a luxury niche fragrance boutique in Romania? Hell no. It's worth around a forth of that asking price. Cheers Ram.

That is one of the issues with limited issue perfumery that uses rare natural materials is that unless you get in when it first comes out you usually can't sample them

I thought you said you dont do clone companies? BTV is such a fradulent brand. Some of them are good but all their big sellers are influenced or copied. Such a shame Overall graet review, keep up the good work

The only one Ive tried and enjoyed wearing from this brand was Dasman. It’s a rose oud so nothing groundbreaking but nonetheless good

This brand is Louis Vuitton of perfume world. Made for snobs who can brag about how much money they spent(wasted) on those perfumes. Buying perfumes like that is not hobby anymore, it's addiction at the highest level no matter how much money you have. It just shows lack of taste to be honest. For few of their more expensive ones you can buy whole collection of suits/car/invest in house/travel/charity/watch/anything and still have money to buy good perfumes like Chanel ones and be happy. Of course Im not saying about all of their perfumes because they have cheaper ones too but those ones are not in the center of attention anyway :)

I'm not fond of this house at all, way too overpriced. Also, if I ever wanted to spend 1500-2000$ on real Oud, I'd get a bunch of stuff from Areej Le Dore, Bortnikoff, Ensar Oud, etc.
