You guys must have arrived just after I left Japan. I reached the crater rim after climbing for 7.5 hours on the splitboard but didn't have enough daylight left to descend inside. Was also mad cold and windy up there as Kevin said. Next time I will start at least an hour earlier in the morning with headlamp if necessary.

what up TJ? I did that hike last year, was amazing, in my case with the powder racer (this year the powder drifter i think) but I got to say that the mini tree hunter is quite tempty for Japan trees. What do you think of that board? are you making a review? looks so nimble...... also the footage of this video is really pretty..... gave me lovely memories

Possibly stupid question, but how do you make sure that you are heading in the right direction and don't end up having a massive hike around the base of the mountain?
@inmotion_snow
@inmotion_snow 5 жыл бұрын
you can follow your own tracks coming up, or also previous tracks of people coming down on skis or boards, usually there will be more tracks leading to the base naturally. if you have none of that, just mark some points as you are hiking up. it is probably one of the most important points of the adventure for sure
@BoardArchive
@BoardArchive 5 жыл бұрын
It is really important to remember natural landmarks on the way up so you know you're descending the right direction. Things like ridge lines, rock formations, or very distinguished trees. The more the better
