Absolutely amazing game and the best dungeon Crawler I have by far! One suggestion: Turn the QR code process into a mobile APP (so we can download the content to play offline)!!! Also I won`t mind getting a “nightmare mode” using all the titles from the expansions and with increased difficulty!! This way we could use all the content we have in a second “nightmare mode” playthrough.

@@nipzie Although I like the idea of an “ upgrade” kit with additional printed doors for a Hard mode (we could buy a new set of doors with different dungeon layout and different monsters) I don’t think that the game needs a streamlined version. So far loke the rules as they are.

Absolutely agree 100% with your positive review. I have completed the base 18 chapter campaign playing 2 heroes solo (Mage & Cleric). As to your negative points, being an avid dungeon crawler player I didn't find that setting up a new section of dungeon any more time-consuming than other random dungeon games, and while it does take up quite a bit of table space (most notably the player boards), again, it is not much more than say Sword & Sorcery or Deep Madness and less so than Dungeon Crusade or Shadows of Brimstone. And as to the difficulty, it may have been the hero pairing I chose (or the fact I'm not a great player!) but I found the standard difficulty about spot on with most chapters coming down to the wire - win or lose. However overall, it is definitely right up there with my favourite crawlers and your coverage of its "best" points aligns very well with my own. Bring on the expansion.

What are the differences in the second edition (or rather 1.5 I think its called?)? Did they adress some of the issues you had?
@Grebeny3 ай бұрын
I finished the main game and I mostly agree. - Space that this game takes is absurd sometimes. I play it at 120 to 120 table and still need to keep trays near me with easy access because they just can't fit. - I love the door mechanic (some people disliked it), but before I sit on the table I put togheter the entire dungeon without reading and checking the future events to save time later between doors. Because the game is having a pretty good flow and when I go to building up the next room we totally lose this flow. - Game was quite easy at first, but if you add the monsters from the new expansion (yes, you can do so in the original) some of those are a game changer. Including to that, there is a sequel of 4 chapters later in the campaign, first two were quite easy, but the second two are nightmare. They are optional, so you can just go with the story and ignore them, but I wanted to see the extra story in them, so I pushed them and me and my buddy felt totally broken mentally from those two :D. However, last boss thanks to decisions we took and items we managed to collect was quite easy. - We too had some troubles with darkness, it is good mechanic overall, but it slows down the gameplay and especially early on, we were taking more damage from darkness instead of enemies. Story was ok, but nothing special, art is mostly pretty generic. However it is still one of the best dungeon crowlers we played, so many conditions, tactics you can use and etc. For Apocalipsis: - First of all, because that really annoy me and I need to say it. They will throw a lot of refences to the expansions of the first generation trying to persuade you to buy them, there is no other reason to add stuff exactly from expansions in as even in the book is written "none sense place" out of that. - You don't keep the character exactly the way you left them. I am really not huge fan of that part, so we decided to leave them the way they were and buffed the battles a little instead (we play with 3 character and spawn enemies for 4 characters). There are a lot of things going on on the map and from time to time we feel a bit overwhelmed to deal with all events and stuff. But at the same time we are having so much fun. They took a lot of feedback and the new maps just feel so much more alive from before. Overall, I am loving it, and the only reason why we didn't finished it, is because we want to paint some of the minies before we proceed.
@DieNische3 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I find Drunagor extremely unfiddly, especially compared to other dungeon crawls out there. The overall management of the effects at the start of your turn is very elegant in my opinion. The biggest downsides (for now): - The game is too easy (bit QR-code-doors should fix that) - The story is too generic. - The lack of monster variety (you should open all expansions and mix them in from the start).
@BoardGameCo3 жыл бұрын
Agreed on all your points. Doors do fix the difficulty, story I don't care about, and monster variety you absolutely need to mix them in.

One of your complaints here suggests a new topic, and I think you are the right person to make original suggestions about it: making more table space, for games that need a lot of it. How can we enlarge our playing space by using that third dimension, height! To get you thinking: (1) I use various wooden racks that make it possible to keep (roughly) eight cards in a very viewable upright position, where normally I would only have room for three cards to lie flat. (2) Have a small three-level table by your side. Each level gives you about two more square feet of table space. (3) When I can afford it, I plan to buy one of those plexiglass dividers that stores use to protect their employees from covid-19. The divider will stand near me on my table, and I will tape see-through pockets to it, enabling me to emplace maybe fifteen cards in an area that would normally hold about five cards lying flat. - Toby

All those 3D type things, they have a place and there's a reason there are buyers for those products when they come up, but for me personally they add to the setup and tear down time and I value that more than I value the space. Great review, and I agree on many points - the darkness system is -just- a tad too fiddly for what it provides, although I am able to place the actual large pieces 85% of the time, so I'm not sure I agree when you said that you rarely use the bigger pieces (they're only supposed to not be used if they can't fit on the map. I definitely disagree with your assessment that the rulebook could be half the size! My only issue is that one or two of the sections could have been moved around to be a bit more logical, and it's possibly a bit long, but I would challenge anyone to adequately cover the rules and examples for this game in half of the size. I don't think that's possible. Gloomhaven's rulebook is about the same length. You can't have a game with the amount of mechanics included -and- campaign gameplay without a decently sized rulebook. That would just create a worse situation where people are forced to use the internet/bgg to get questions answered. Even with this rulebook I've had about 6 or 7 questions that came up!
