So... What you didn't see was the production meltdown we had between the Dot and some of the other production equipment. Once we got Alexa back in line, we decided to: a) Redo the episode in 1 take b) Manage Alexa as best as best we could knowing that she's not video production friendly. Yes, I skipped Alexa. No, I didn't mean to. No, we couldn't retake. Just realize how hard the interaction with Alexa is normally (with or without a command phase) along with being a person that you couldn't coax to pick up production cues led to what you saw.

Question. A player has the option to pick up 2 cards. I noticed that after the first Face Up card was taken out of the 5 face up row, the deck manager would immediately replace the void before the player decided whether to take their second card from the face up or down pile. (I wondered if, perhaps you were not supposed to fill in the gaps on the face up row until after the player selected their second card.) I noticed that sometimes it would get filled in, and the player would select that newly flipped card as their second. And I noticed that after selecting their first card, that void would be replaced with a wild. That being said, that wild can't be taken as the second card. But if the stock was not meant to be refreshed till after Both cards were selected, then the wild could have still been face down on the top of the deck and potentially selected as a face down card as their second choice. I was wondering if this was an oversight, or if each face up card was to be replaced immediately upon selecting one, even if it was the first selected?
@LinaTK4 жыл бұрын
The card gets replaced immediately. The same happens in the app, for example.

I like that you can use Alexa with physical board game. I't nice t have someone to play with when no is there and you don't need to find a Solo game to play or play on a electronic device of some kind. The Alexa app factor made this episode insufferable to watch. Sorry. That was the most annoying thing I have ever seen. I play board games to interact and have fun with my friends, who are actual human people. This is ridiculous. Plus it slowed the game down a lot. Ugh!
@MarkBuschhaus4 жыл бұрын
wow, i can no longer hear these stupid arguments. technology does not hinder the fun with friends. when a board game has an app i always hear "booowoooh i dont want to use my phone when playing games, i want to spend time with my friends." but really, apps dont replace the social interaction with friends. games like mansions of madness are best when using the app, games that have apps, which help keeping track of games are also great. my game group had so much fun with chronicles of crime for example. and detective club also is only fun while using the app. yes, in this alexa example it slowed down the game, but it was interesting to see what technology is capable to do. everybody whining about it, doesnt have to use it. but you should be aware, you will miss out a lot of games in the future.

I love board games with app interaction...maybe because I’m younger but it makes it more fun and you do;t have to keep track of everything because technology is doing it for you lol. I wish Gloomhaven had a built in apppppp omggggggg

I suspect if anything Alexa sped the game up, since it kept score automatically. Ticket to Ride tends to run long(er than it deserves) no matter what. I'll stay out of your other argument.
@atomiccritter64924 жыл бұрын
i think it brings a freshness to what IS an old game
@imjoshellis4 жыл бұрын
This is a weird argument to me considering that when I play TTR (just played last night), the faster we play, the less table interaction there is (and my group usually plays pretty heavy so TTR flies by as almost a filler if we play). That being said, I love the idea of voice controlled score keeping. Though I’d prefer if there were a generic app where you could just say something quick like “Alexa blue four points” and manually deal with end game scoring. Playing with Alexa as a player isn’t interesting to me at all though.
@stevegeorge77734 жыл бұрын
