When you interact with a point marker, you get an actual point immediately. You don't only have a 'temporary point' while it's on your track. When it comes off the track, you can interact with that marker again to gain an additional point, etc. Also, Harry Potter's passive "The Boy Who Lived" only works when he is knocked down, not while standing.

Wow. My bad, I guess, with regard to the point markers. This is all that's said about them in the rules: "When a character is adjacent to a point marker on the map or in its square, the character may do the interact action to gain a point. Place the point marker, letter-side up, on the 4 of their cooldown track. When a point marker shifts off a cooldown track, place it back on the map in the corresponding letter’s setup square." Heh, that seems a little clearer now that I know the actual rule, but I think you can see how I could have made this mistake. And wow, that would *really* speed the game up. FWIW, I kinda liked the length of our game, so even played by the correct rules, I might consider playing to a higher VP count. Oh maybe this is why you play three games in a row :)
@theunamiable5 жыл бұрын
Cool play through. As someone else said, you were doing the rule for the Interact tokens wrongly -- they do give you a 'real' point straightaway. The cooldown is only to control when it goes back on the board so it can be collected again. Having said that, this might be an interesting variation -- it would make it more strategic for when you want to grab the tokens. I think if you were playing with a third character, it would help alleviate Nikki's frustration a bit, as she would get more backup. I've only played twice, and haven't really worked out the strategy properly, or which mode is best (too much clumping together may descend into simple mass brawls), but it seems a good start.

Great video. One thing I don't see pointed out by anyone else is a small mistake at 9:05. Rivals only block your line of sight if you can see them, a character that is hidden but has a edge poking out won't provide any cover for other potential targets. At 17:38 yes, when Hermione does Descendo it does all the ability tokens, also her Accio ability can not be used on the point markers, as tokens and markers are different things. Generally speaking markers are part of the scenario and square while tokens are round and come from a character. You don't have any tokens that aren't ability tokens in this set, but I hear HP 101 might.

The spell IS called "Confringo" the blasting curse. The error is the spell below it, "Oppungo", which should be called "Oppugno". Both involve the letters G and N though so it's no wonder. EDIT: And Oppugno IS the spell Hermione used in the movie. The spell orders creatures or objects under your control to attack.

In my group we house ruled the knock down. The player knocked down can decide how is going to lie down. Only the feet need to be in the actual square it was standing. So we keep the impassable obstacle rules by the opponents.

I'd call this, a VERY basic introduction to table-top RPG/dungeon crawl type games. The rules are simple enough children could grasp them, but there's enough game there for experienced gamers can have some fun with it, if they are in to lighter games. The game is fast enough, you should probably play 3 games of it, either best of 3 or maybe do three different scenarios...this would let each player/character really use all their powers. Just a thought. Another great GameNight!

54:01 A third option would've been to move up two spaces and then interact diagonally. He would've still attacked you and possibly won but if you survived you're one crystal better than with the two other choices. Also, you guys forgot the effect of Impedimenta the whole game.
@ronhatch91755 жыл бұрын
Harry's ranged attacks aren't as strong, though. Add in the fact that even if he still managed to knock Bellatrix out the two sides would have been tied and the game wouldn't have ended, and it clearly becomes a much better move.
@EvanSawyer45 жыл бұрын
@@ronhatch9175 I didn't even think about that. You're right! It would've tied the game and actually since Harry wouldn't be able to get the other shard in the room with a single turn, there would've even been a chance for Bellatrix to get it if she managed to escape being knocked down.

They didn't really play Bea and vol to their strengths. Also ctf isn't the best mode for the Harry Potter cast because most of the characters are combat based with buffs and defbuffs. Characters with movement speed buff would have been a lot more interesting.

Didn't seem like much sense to go for the temp point flags in the first round. The chance of you scoring the rest of the points you need to get to 6, before the temp points expire seems very slim.
@martinaasandersen37755 жыл бұрын
Atleast with the rules as played in the video. A guy further down claims you get a permanent point and the timer is just for the respawn of the flag (so you cant grap the same one again for a while). If that is the actual rules for the scenario it makes a lot of sense to rush to them in the first round. I actually think i like the rules they used better, even if they are wrong, as it makes it more strategic to have to time it right.
@davidiezzi41505 жыл бұрын
@@martinaasandersen3775 The problem with that system can be seen in this video. It means that going for points early is pretty close to always the wrong choice. It would just be a race to the flags every first turn and that wouldn't be very interesting. This way it gives players multiple viable lines of play.
@martinaasandersen37755 жыл бұрын
@@davidiezzi4150 I would say quite the opposite. That those 4 being permanent points forces your hand in the first round to make sure your team get atleast 2 of them. The way they play gives you more freedom for the first few rounds in my book (they didn't do that though since they still rushed the points for no reason). You cant grap the end zone flags in one round and remember kills also give points.
@davidiezzi41505 жыл бұрын
@@martinaasandersen3775 If they aren't permanent, going for them in round 1 or 2 makes no sense. If they are permanent there is a dilemma on wether to rush for the flag or rush for the side points at the start. And then the game is always progressing towards the end of the game instead of the ability for stalls.
@martinaasandersen37755 жыл бұрын
@@davidiezzi4150 agree to disagree (as I said before Kills give 1 pt vs 2 for end zone so still good and there's defence too. You say it locks into end zone, I say other way locks you into 1 pt flags)
