@@joejoerunya8908 Maybe for the sequel. Knowing how Hollywood is incredibly desperate for semi-newish, novel material nowadays, wouldn't be surprised if they had a successor series to this. Which, honestly, is somewhat warranted and not too far-fetched, given the commercial success of other historical dramas such as the Crown.

Both al and lucky were flashy and loved the media attention at the height of their criminal reign. Yea Luciano probably was more succesful over all, but at this time al Capone was the most powerful and famous gangster to ever live, and he was younger than lucky. He came from nothing and at age 26 became boss. Lucky had connections all over the world, and was obviously more business ordinated, but Capone ran Chicago like no one else has ever ran a U.S. City. That's why he will always be #1!

Luciano knew he wasn't going to get anywhere with Capone, but he didn't need to worry for long since Capone was going to prison anyway. Luciano dealt with the Chicago Outfit through Underboss Paul Ricca instead of Capone's successor Frank Nitti. Ricca was someone Luciano can see eye-to-eye with and he was considered the true boss of the Outfit.
@jamaaldaynitelong83675 жыл бұрын
I thought Paul Ricca went to jail after Nitti offed himself...I thought it was all Arcardo, Joey Aiuppa Giancarna etc that kept Chicago independent yet still within good standing with the NY boys?

Luciano not only had the brawn but he also had the mind for that kind of world, he knew that everybody worked together regardless of background, everybody will benefit. To those who are wondering why Capone seems to forget Jimmy here's a couple of theories: 1. his neurosyphilis 2. Just simply moving on and he slipped his mind like a kid you went to school with you gradually forget there was a few years between seasons 4 and 5, gradually someone won't have value beyond a memory anymore and they only knew each other for a year? If you put the fictional Capones history in order Jimmy was only there really 5 minutes 3. Maybe he didnt forget him at all and could've been Capone not hearing over the chatter and Lucianos voice asking who its never really elaborated on as Jimmy himself isnt really the subject it was Van Alden 4. The drugs and not caring about the discussion at hand 5. Some of or all of the above

Al was a big shot by this point, the most famous gangster in the world (even if wasn't really the most powerful). Historians say he was always pretending to know people he didn't and saying he'd never heard of people he formely did associate with. He was obsessed with his image as a tough guy, he never wanted people to know that once he was just Torrio's errand boy.

Everyone's got to start somewhere.
@littlejimmyscumbag25516 жыл бұрын
Couldn't be more wrong about who Capone actually was. Torrio handed him the entire business at 24 years of age and he overran the city in a way Torrio never could. He never hide from Torrio's mentorship or looked down on it. Also, Capone wanted to be seen as a businessman, not a tough guy. He even lied about his scars saying he got them in the army because he didn't want to portray himself as a criminal hoodlum getting in knife fights to people. He associated with high profile uppity types because he was the precursor to the "I'm not a gangster, I'm a business man" attitude that popularized after him and also, Luciano was the only one more powerful than Capone and only because New York was so big, Capone had the entire midwest to himself. And Luciano only became more powerful after Capone's imprisonment, when he was out, he was the most powerful.
@dkupke6 жыл бұрын
Boom Ol well other than that he was, ya know, a murderer. But still, reading up on Capone, its amazing how the outfit operated like the idealized image of a modern corporation, if not better; they were loyal to a fault to each other, they avoided conflict if they could but fought mercilessly when they had to, and they recognized talent and hard work and rewarded it in spades.

Yeah, I know, but still, being a crime boss requires the entire circle to be low key, like how Capone beat up that reporter who wanted him to "give-a-statement" and for that other guy who he beat in the bar for simply mocking one of his employees. Blood is bad for business, draws way too much heat and puts the family "on-the-radar"

The days were good for the mafia during the "don Calo" era. But as time passed, no one seemed to care about organised crime, which is understandable due to the fact that at the end of the day, everyone wants to go home to their wives and kids, sleep comfortably, enjoy life and have as little worry about it as possible.

@@simonloliong8075nope. Look at the clues in the show, Torrio left right before that hit came on Al, shortly after Torrio gets hit. Then it’s found out Torrio was helping Lucky and Meyer with the Commission, and when they didn’t need him anymore, they told him he was out

Really makes me realize this show didn't hit its stride till near the end. This show would've been great if it had gone all the way with the build up to the reorganization of crime in pre-war America. Sadly we don't start seeing that till seasons 4 and 5, and by then the show got canceled.

***** Because the guy he's talking about ( Mueller) is a stiff guy and the phrase cigar store indian refers to a wooden statue of a Native American that advertisers use to promote different types of tobacco products in places such as cigar stores typically. Lucky was referring to how stiff the guy was, posture wise, because he couldn't remember his name .

love this scene. they should have made a spin-off with Luciano and Capone...fucking show was way too short, but I'm guessing it had something to do with lack of information. guess they used up all the info they had and wrapped it up. Meanwhile bullshit soap operas get like 20-30 seasons smfh.

Much as I loved the Actor, he looked nothing like Al Capone lol. He was short and too light haired. Al Capone had a VERY distinctive look thats hard to forget so when I saw this dude I was like? Really.? Now. The dude playing Luciano gotta by hands down one of the best portrayals and likeness I've seen in a long time since Jamie Foxx played Ray Charles.

I'm not sure it was that Al didn't remember Jimmy, I think he was just surprised that Jimmy was brought up.
@spearofconquest9 жыл бұрын
Godzilla52 I kinda took as him just acting like he didn't know him cuz his time as a low life thug and johnny's bitch were over. He remembers jimmy just fine, he's the main reason he got his start cuz without him they wouldn't have robbed those guys in the beginning of the series. Or it could just be a middle finger to the actor who was rumored to be kind of a dick.
