This week we are trying to finish the traveler bulkhead. This project is large and difficult with lots of epoxy during a warm spell in the PNW.

One off custom boats like Duracell are usually built over a male plug. When you get to the bow you overlap the sides of the hull laminates inside and out over a wide stem for ease of construction. Then the bow foam is glued on and shaped to the lines. Very common method in high end racing boats.

To get more working time, i put epoxy on ice, helps big time on those big vac bag jobs. I take two mixing cups of the same size, i put ice 1/4 way full in one, mix up epoxy in the other, then set the epoxy cup inside the ice cup and tape them together with painters tape around the seem of the ice cup. Congrats on another big task done!

I am a product designer, but right now I am totally plugged (hahaha), on the issue of color for your boat. There is something beautiful and old fashioned about sailboats with blue hulls and white sails. Besides the idea of painting the hull in cobalt blue, I think the doghouse and cockpit area would look great in copper green, you know, the patina of copper, like the Statue of Liberty. It is a color that is very easy on the eye, and rather calming, so you allude to the original paint job on this boat, but with a twist. And if you do some studies, the combo of cobalt blue and oxidized copper may look very elegant, and full of content. Keep working, and keep posting! Et, voilá les suggestions pour la couleur: DURACELL COLOR COMBO SUGGESTIONS Hull: Pantone solid coated 2736 c Stern extension area: Pantone solid coated 301 c Pinstriping separating two tones of blue: Pantone solid coated 471 c Doghouse and cockpit (and maybe deck?) Pantone solid coated 351c (or 344 c)
