It looks like you didn't need to loft these plans. Wondering where you got them? I found plans for the Haven 12 1/2 at the Woodenboat Store. Also wondering what species of wood you are using. It's beautiful. As you can tell, I'm a beginner. Thanks!

Although quite similar to the Haven 12 1/2, this model, the Somes Sound 12 1/2 was designed by John Brooks. Part of may attraction and decision to build this boat is because of the incredible detail in the plans. go here, to John's website and you can see a lot, including plans for numerous boats. oh and yes, the wood is Honduran Mahogany. I was amazed at just how lovely it is when I put the epoxy on it! really stunning. thanks for watching

Fun to see your progress ... can I ask a question - I might have missed something, but from what I could see it looked like you cut your poster board template to the line for the fashion pieces rather than the inboard line for the transom?

Inner shape is the bevel, yes?

​@@moniquedurant2289 yeah - the inner line is the bevel, which would be the aft side (outboard) of the transom. Then there is a middle line, which should be the inboard side of the transom (and the aft side of the fashion pieces) And the third (widest) line should be the inboard shape of the fashion pieces. If you cut the bevel from the plans it's just important to use the middle to the inner line. And of course the transom has to have the specified thickness as per plans, otherwise that bevel will be off. With the extra layer of ply that bevel line will be a little off ... no biggie, just a little more tweaking needed when the planks go on.

good catch! yes I did and it is because I want to glue on the cheeks to that outer edge and then bevel all at once. Truthfully, I was a bit unsure about it initially but I figure, I can always cut off too much, can't really add any back on. The mahogany is kind of soft so I don't expect a lot of trouble in beveling.

​@@JenkinsBoatWorks That makes sense! I never had the confidence to cut bevels all the way off the plans. It's a bit awkward but at least you know where you're at once you dry fit the planks. So in your approach as long as the fashion pieces have the correct thickness, you should get a good fit for your planks - looking forward to it :)
