Great video! Always a good idea that after drilling or enlarging a hole in a fiberglass boat hull to apply a thin coat of 5 min epoxy or polyester resin to seal the bare glass layers. Always better safe than sorry.

You can get deck mounted screw on fitted gas or diesel caps for filling your fuel tank that have an incorporated fuel vent so you don't have to mess with a separate fuel vent. One less hole in the boat and you don't ever have to clean anything out of the vent. Best..."SV Aquila" Seattle.

My boat already had 2 vents in the side from the factory. I didn't add any.

Hello Chris, I have a 2005 Cobalt 255, same boat as yours with a closed bow. Is it a pain to remove panel to get at back side of fuel vents? Do I have to remove shifter to remove panel? Thanks

After having done it a couple of times, it's not too bad. I could probably do it in about 25 minutes or less now. I think both times I did remove the shifter, but removing the shifter is pretty simple. You might be able to lower the panel without removing the shifter, but it's probably not worth the headache because the panel will still be in your way. Good luck!

An allen key allows you to take the cover out and clean the filter.

Awesome video! What do the vents get dirty with??? I’m having a problem on my boat: all the sudden there’s gas smell coming from the bottom of the hull. I don’t see any leaks on the hoses. I believe it may be this breathers are obstructed and that create pressure inside the tank making it sweaty and smell. What do you think?
