I just discovered your channel. I have subbed. My father lives about a quarter mile from the Shoalwater factory in Port O Connor. Those boats have been a staple in this town for years. Great boats and they will run in very shallow water. Just don’t let up on the throttle or you will firmly plant the boat to the mud! I know this video is 3 years old but congratulations on your Shoalwater

June 2016. Picked up my new boat in Rockport (I live in San Antonio). Took the ferry to Port A and hit a Tahoe in a parking lot at a bait shop. Skipped the fishing. Took her back to San Antonio. A week later, put in at Calaveras. So excited. By the time I got parked and back, she was sinking. I put the plug in the live well drain....tried to get her back on the trailer and hit a rock. Denting the prop. Went home. Finally back a Calaveras a week later, no fish. 4 trips later, a catfish. Maybe 5th trip to North Padre, broke a leaf spring on the trailer. This is my third boat. WIFE IS TRACKING BOAT COST Divided by Fish Pounds. I'm paying about $500 a pound for fish.... welcome to the struggle.

With that style of boat, low gunwales and the leaning post, I highly recommend: 1. Attach the kill switch lanyard to the PFD you should be wearing, 2. Buy a 2nd lanyard, so she can go pick you up when you take a wave wrong and get tossed off the leaning post into the water Advice from a guy who has been operating a Sheriff Patrol Boat in Cali for the past 25 years. NICE BOAT!!!!

Good point about the 2nd lanyard.

Look into the Wireless MOB (Man Over Board). Lanyards always get in the way and you tend to disconnect them. I got one a FELL Marine MOB that is sold on Amazon.Easy to install - wires right into your kill switch. Buy the wrist band attachment that you can wear or clip to your PFD.

I’ve been boating for over 30 years and I’ve never owned a boat with a “safety lanyard.” I’ve always seen them cause problems and accidents, so I have disabled them on every boat I’ve owned that came with them. Too many times they get ripped off when you try to move a little causing a loss of control that ends up with a wrecked boat when there was no danger of falling over. When your engine stops for no reason and you are fighting the current in a river, that “safety” lanyard can destroy your boat. Try to move around looking for stumps? Well, your cord pops off and you can’t control the boat. By the time you hook it back up and restart, you have drifted into something and damaged your boat. When I worked as a salvage diver, I saw more dead bodies wearing life jackets than not. They always got hung up on parts of the boat and trapped the wearer. So many kids killed because idiots push for life jackets. Never wear something with straps all over it that will hang up. That will kill you faster than not wearing one.

I bought my 21' Shoalwater from Waypoint (i live in Houston). Family and i had a mini vaca down in corpus, picked up the boat on the final day, went to drop it in the water, made it down the channel about 1/2 a mile and it just died...waited a few seconds, started right up...got up on plane...then after a few seconds....died...was able to start it back up and idle back to the ramp luckily. Called up Waypoint...they took it back immediately...said to go have lunch real quick and they'd figure out what was wrong. After a few hours, they learned that the fuel line from the tank to the engine was kinked outta the factory...they fixed it, and i haven't had an issue since....that was back in 2018. Eddie and Jared Poole were awesome throughout the whole experience and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one from them in the future! I'm glad they were able to get your stuff figured out...

Hey man, from a guy in the coast guard, a guy that’s home some experience with boats, and a guy who actually just earlier today watched some dude jump off his boat onto another because his boat was taking on water... buy extra boat plugs and leave in the boat... if you leave in while trailering, they can fall out and you’re screwed... if you take out while trailering, you can miss place and same thing, and or you can forget to put them back in before launching... and you don’t want to forget them in the car... boat plugs. Buy some, out in the boat... and if you start feeling butt heavy you can get some water out if you get up on plain.... and then put the plug(s) back in. But yes. Extra boat plugs. Little while ago saw a guy with his brand new boat sink it over there by snoopy’s in corpus. Dude had to abandon ship. So boat plugs man. Buy extras... keep them on the boat. Lol

This. I have a fake boat plug keychain on my boat keys as a reminder. I keep a drain plug in the truck and I keep a few on the boat. Be a dork, use a physical checklist before you launch. I'm not sure exactly how it is rigged, but if it doesn't already have them I would suggest Lenco trim tabs and a power pole, along with a Ipilot trolling motor. My comments to the builder, dealer............c'mon man!!! They should know some of the potential issues off the bat. I've owned boats for 20+ years, dealers / builders live and breathe these things daily. I would have expected them to know the potential issues up front. Also they should have gone through the boat with you as you picked it up......that way they could see the gauges and point everything out, that way no mistakes between water pressure and oil pressure. We had a 1 hour walk through with our dealer after delivery, went through the boat back to front. The little scoop to assist with water pressure should have come standard on the Suzy if it was a known issue.
@systemsroofing4564 жыл бұрын
That happened to me on my new haynie , the issue is that if you idle for a long time the gas runs out on the pump , all u had to do is squeeze the black pump and it will start right up. I freaked out as well , I call the dealership while on the water and the told me what to do and why it happened.
