Boat Side Body mounts install, Jeep Wrangler TJ, Barnes 4WD

Stop getting hung up on the rocks! In this video I Install the Barnes 4WD Boat side body mounts. These mounts are a huge upgrade over the factory. I should have done this much sooner. It allows me to remove my 1" body lift giving me stronger mounts and an extra inch of ground clearance on top of the mounts sliding over the rocks.

Good tip on the Acetone. Was welding on our Artec truss and was getting some porosity even after grinding clean. Thanks Kelly. Great job on the body mounts. ❤️🐞

Thanks, even “new” metal has oil and crap on it, so I always clean it up first. Makes welding that much easier.

The reason the top comes separate is so you can weld it to the frame from the under side of the top piece before you weld the bottom on.

You need to get some weld thru primer. Would make everything easier and significantly improve corrosion protection. Check it out.

to cut down on bolt fatigue wear & breakage & lessen torque loads need lets make a new thing. It has a raised prt 1 side1 mm or so mayb 2 mm max. Then if needed a 2nd threaded lock washer. NOW tighten nut can b nut w/built in washer(even better)& u hve 1 thread washer or 2 that u tight down on & see if u hve tightened it enough. No gap showing 1 or both thread washers, is plenty tight enough.

Nice video Kelly! I will keep an eye out for when they make JKU body mounts. Last time up at Reiter one of them got pretty bent up, I was able to straighten it but would be a good upgrade!

It’s not welded, just the sides and the bottom.

Do you think I could use these on a 2" body lift? I was actually thinking of removing the 2" and replacing them with 1" body mounts but I don't want these to be welded to high on the frame.

2” might be too high, 1” was a perfect height.

Love the video, love the mod, im planning on doing this myself eventually.. I have one question though.... Why does the audio in all of your videos sound so.... tinny? Maybe its just me, and my attention to audio, but is it your camera? or how you encode your videos? It really gets to me. :P

Thanks, the audio does bug me too. I use a rhode video micro with the DJI osmo action with an adapter. The audio was much better with my GoPro, and the same mic. But I like the DJI camera better, so I just live with it. Not sure why It does it but have tried a bunch of stuff to make it better but I think the mic adapter just doesn’t work as well as the GoPro.

Wow. That's a shame. I used a gorpo 7 for a while with the same mic. Audio was always decent. I finally upped to a canon EOS m50 though. It's awesome for garage footage. The GoPro is still my go-to on the trail though. It's not without it's problems though! I can understand why you switched.

Thanks, I used angle iron to mount the seat and bolt to the floor, using large washers or square plates under the tub for reinforcement.

You could just leave them in the stock location. if you want the 1” lift you would basically need to buy a body lift or make some spacers. You still need one in the front and 2 in the rear. This just replaces the 3 in the middle. So do the body lift first and then replace the middle ones removing the spacers.
