Thanks for a well done video and job. Description says " Skeg repair " and that is what we got ! .. not talking a bunch of rubbish while holding a glass of liquor trying to look cool or mafia and presenting a bunch of horrible welding and demonstrating inability ! Great job !

Beautiful video. I appreciate the attention to getting that skeg right. We took my brother's "work boat" (Boston Whaler with twin 175 hp. outboards to the shop to have id worked on. Picking it up, we just backed down the ramp to test it out. Darn near killed both of us; the skegs were not true. A sharp turn at almost full trottle and we almost flipped. The work was corrected and the bill marked "No Charge". The mechanic saw the whole test and knew the boat was used for law enforcement.

As a retired tool and die maker I love working with aluminum. .old trick was to use Bees wax as a lubricant on aluminum when grinding,it keeps wheel or grinding disc from loading up...beautiful repair job...welding any cast material is a real p.i.a.

Well done I really like that there are some younger generation folks out there willing to use there muscles and brains to do a old school much needed job thanks my man!! The only thing that I didn’t see in this video however maybe he didn’t show it but the fins on an out board no matter which ones they are need to be square and straight with a near perfect leading edge. I know this is how they did it back in the day but now we can use our lasers and what not to check everything to be square true etc. smaller engines it’s not a huge issue you wonts be able to tell too much of a problem but when you are pumping out the horsepower and torque and water flow dynamics in high horsepower and torque things need to be accurate almost to 100% tolerance. You do t want vibrations or lift or pull. These tolerances are key to fuel economy ride quality and simply put not ruining it all again amongst everything else mechanical attached to the engine and drive etc not rattling apart and breaking down. With CBC and laser measuring tech nowadays we can’t almost have next to zero tolerance and help the whole picture. If able don’t if not fix to your ability and don’t throw it away if we can help it. Thanks again for the video.

Cast is a pain that most people don't want any part of. It can be challenging and thats probably why I like it. Im currently repairing the coolant part of a block. I told the guy with as bad as it was he probably had other cracks he just can't see and I can't make any promises. He said its worth a chance. Ive never seen so much corrosion and salt build up as his. Dirtiest I've ever worked on.

I think you can only heat it so much. Another words I was told u break things into smaller jobs until complete or you can possibly ruin any gaskets or o rings. I don't think you have to worry about the steel.
