Thanks for watching everyone! Just to clear a couple of thing up: 1. This is not staged or fake, we lost the boat to a huge, unexpected storm. The anchor pulled, the boat went side on, took on water, sunk and we lost most of the gear on the boat. Although I didn't see it happen, this is the most likely situation. Yes, there are things we ofcourse could have done differently. 2. The coast guard picked us up when they could 3 days later. 3. You can't see the outboard clearly, as it was trimmed up. But it has a 140hp on the back, also ruined. 4. The boat was salvaged in the weeks following, Coxy bought the boat back from the insurance company and is now getting fixed up again! 5. Fortunately, there were no spillage of fuel or oil. WE NEVER, EVER- stage any of our videos or experiences. And we NEVER WILL. Thanks to you guys with the kind words, we tried to make the absolute most of a shitty situation. As always in life. I'll see you out here! Az

The guy with the prosthetic leg climbed up that rock wall faster that I could have with my two normal legs not to mention swimming out to the boat! Amazing! Sorry for all the troubles and I know losing stuff sucks, but at the end of the day, equipment can be replaced, but people are irreplaceable!

Its weird how this happens sometimes, with no explanation. I had a Yamaha Southwind that flipped in a totally protected anchorage in Arnhem Land. Never worked out what caused it. Love Middle Percy, we were there in out Catamaran earlier this year, they gave us a couple of shoulders of goat, made some wicked goat curry. Robin & Annie are a great couple and made us very welcome at the homestead.

Losing a boat that would just crush my soul because I'd never have a way to recoup the loss. Lost an entire computer hard drive full of pictures, videos and files from canoe trips that I can never replace and I mourn that loss like losing a body part. My sympathies! ;(😢😢🙁

Very sorry for your misfortune, We live in Fort Myers, Florida. Hurricane Ian laid waste to our most beautiful, serene, beach communities. It was truly biblical. On the upside the community is strong, resilient. Fighters to the tenth power, like the 3rd Monkey trying to board Noah's Arch. We hope your boat can be put back in order. There's normally 2 place to park a boat, beach it on the shore or out in the deep. In between is no man's land. What happens is as the tide goes out the waves break in the shallow water and turn into mountains. It will pull the anchor, snap the rope or flip the boat. Another tip I put two main anchors and one stern anchor to keep the boat facing the sea.

SO sorry you had to deal with this. My friend lost a boat over 30 years ago with my partner also on it. It sank FAST! They got a distress call out but it was after sunset off So. California in winter. They had to wait 45 minutes while watching patrolling craft and copters look for them. The lights on the floatation devices cracked against the deck while the boat was going down. I hope you recover more gear. I’m glad you are basically okay. Hope the shin and foot heals quickly. Be safe out there!

Comes to mind. why didn't anchor the boat in the lagoon in the first place, storm's coming and you make the wrong move, been at sea on the Great Barrier Reef for 20 years, chartering for tourists, fishers and the like, never underestimate the power of Mother sea, hope this will be a lesson for the future...

Yeah, seems silly to me too. It’s not a huge boat, you could’ve beached it and and had a few people push it back in at high tide. Anchor it further up the beach.

#1 tip - treat your boat like your life depends on it. That's the way it typically is on the ocean or even the US Great Lakes. From crab fisherman, barge crossing vessels, indigenous fisherman, etc... Help isn't always "right there". Weather happens and changes constantly. Be prepared for the worst. I love the channel, there's going to be haters for my comment etc... this was preventable. Good spirits about it yada yada... What other way can you take it as long as no one lost their life? Being exposed to the seas and hanging the experience the crew has... Own it... The end result was preventable. OK. If he was up a little longer😳 WHAT? At that point who is going to swim out and do anything if the seas are that bad? NO ONE. Make a video about other things that could have been done. It might save other people and other boats + equipment. Just my opinion

Just after some advice, would you recommend a second anchor on the stern to keep the bow pointing into the swell. Was the boat fitted with auto bilge pumps.
