So what has this got to do with safely operating a small boat. Humans around the world were boating, safely, long before these terms were even created. Most of the test is entirely irrelevant to small boat safety - and I'm almost willing to bet accidents have not declined as a result of these tests. If not, the tests are just a means of revenue.

HOWEVER, I agree that there are more important things to learn and pass tests on than some of the terminology. My sail has a tack, clew, throat, peak, head, luff, foot, leech and roach but I don't really need to know those 9 labels in order to sail safely.

Good eye. There is lots of things they forget to mention through all their videos. I've contacted them about it and they told me that they would consider adding some extra content. You learn a lot in practice after you boat for years, lol. This is just a theoretical test. It means nothing related to how well you preform on the water. Nothing can beat tears of practical experience.
