Hi guys hope all is going well for you. Really enjoying the updates. I have a Master 35 and wanted to pick your brains. Did you refit the window frames to stop the leak? If so would you know the size and length of the bolts and nuts used? Cheers Adam

Interesting well thought out interior, looks like it’s had some great modernization done too on what is a 33+ year old yacht. Good choice , it’s not the age but condition that matters most! Cheers Warren

Hey! Thank you for watching our boat tour! We think she’s great but of course we are a little bias, so always welcome some Indiana compliments! ☺️ she’s been well looked after for sure and as you say some great modernisations! 🤩⛵️

Thanks for the tour guys. Indiana definitely has tons of space. I don’t have quite that much space on my boat, but I’ll shove as much stuff on as I can. Be safe.

That’s my motto! (Lauren) but I have definitely downsized a lot even though we do have quite a bit of space. Thanks so much for watching and all the support ☺️🙌🏼

This is my most liked type of video. Boat tours! I am sub'd to so many sailing channels that I have lost count and I have to say that your little 37 footer is a huge boat on the inside. Really spacious just like you said. And that fact that you can stand up in the entrance of the aft cabin Chris, shows just how much room you actually have inside. Great buy if you ask me. There are a lot of other youtubers who went through refitting their boats from minor to major, prior to crossing the Atlantic and into the Caribbean. You should look them up to see what they added to their boats before making the trip. Lithium and solar panels has been a big ticket item, but if you can manage without, then fine, but I think if you are going to remain off grid and at anchor a lot over the next few years, you will have to save your dosh and put up a big solar array and a sizeable lithium battery bank. Anyway, great video. Really enjoyed it!

Thank you so much for watching and for this awesome comment! we are so glad you enjoyed the episode. We definitely love our Indiana and the fact that Chris has some head room is definitely a bonus! We are getting solar panels fitted soon and there are definitely some other bits we need before we set sail! We shall definitely be doing our research to make sure we are as set as can be. Thanks so much 🌊⛵️

Just enjoyed watching your latest video whilst having an early lunch! You two come across as such a natural and nice friendly couple and this insight into your lovely home was most interesting and informative. Indiana is a fine yacht indeed, well fitted out and ready for those longer passages to exciting new and warmer destinations. Pleased to see you now have that tender and can enjoy dropping the hook. We bought our boat a Westerly Konsort from Chichester and we loved the anchorages on offer in that area before we took her to her new home on the East Coast. Get out there and enjoy whats left of summer guys! Thanks again and all the best. Exciting times ahead for you youngsters...enjoy. David and Ginny.

Ah thanks so much David & Ginny, such a lovely and positive comment☺️ Yes we’ve actually been loaned the gender and outboard, which is amazing! We talk a bit about it in the next episode. But will be great to finally have some days on the hook as you say, and do some exploring! Lovely boat the Konsort!! Hopefully see you out there one day⛵️ L & C

Thanks so much for watching and for the comment☺️ So we’re planning an update video that we might release as a separate thing, we haven’t mentioned much about plans etc for a while. We are planning to head to Spanish waters early next year, with a bigger plan to cross the Atlantic end of 2023😳🤞🏼

Love your video and thank you for letting us snoop around Sailing Indiana with you. Tupperware cupboard will surely come into its own at a later date? Was it a struggle to find the large aft cabin boat that you wanted under 40 foot, And where on your Gibsea is the fuel tank?
@SailingIndiana
@SailingIndiana 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Haha oh no busted with the Tupperware cupboard! Haha yes it will definitely come into its own 😂 We were primarily looking for a centre cockpit and most have large aft cabins, so actually not too much of a struggle. But we happened upon Indiana with a large aft cabin and rear cockpit? Unsure if this is the norm as most have twin aft cabins. The fuel tank is to the right corner of the aft cabin.🙌🏼

Very nice boat! My favorite part was seeing the prior owner had done a rewire of the distribution panel, bet you smiled the first time you saw that. Did you do a resistance test on the refrigeration compressor to verify the (4 wire?) controler was not the issue? Penguin is a UK company that has instructions and repair parts for 80's vintage units.

Hey Dan thanks so much for watching again!! We definitely had a smile on our faces when seeing that DB for the first time🙌🏼 So lucky with the work the PO had done to her, but just not as much work above deck… The problem with our compressor etc is that it’s completely missing…😅 The PO took it out and there is just a big gap where it all should be. Will check our Penguin and see if they do re-issued ones

@@SailingIndiana Something to consider then - I replaced the 1989 frig controller and non-distructively insulated and partioned the unit to serve as 12 sqft of cool storage and 4 sqft of refrigeration. This configuration will draw around 6 amps 12VDC at 50% duty cycle. Works great at the dock plugged into AC but while cruising we will turn it off. We have the same capacity battery bank as you and 400 watts solar. We also have a 120AC/12VDC portable unit typically in freezer mode at the dock (I like ice cream). This becomes our primary cruising refriguration. This unit covers our needs maybe 3sqft and uses half of the power of the built-in. Many technoligies available but suggest only going with a Danforth compressor type. There are many brands avaliable and we are happy with a $500 ICECO model. You may want to sit up late contemplating this alternative while keeping in mind you don't know the person recommending this approach. Best of luck

Hi Lauren & Chris. I hope you're both well. Your fuel tank capacity is 79 litres, if it's the original fuel tank which I assume it is. You are definitely going to need to carry more fuel. We crossed Biscay with 220 litres in the fuel tank and 80 litres in 4 jerry cans, that we store in the lockers. We're currently in Portugal and still on the same fuel we left the UK with. I'm sorry we never got a chance to call into Brighton on our way down the coast, we went directly to Brixham. Keep practicing your sailing and hopefully we will see you next year in the Med. All the best Daryl.

Thank you very much for watching and commenting Daryl, and for the fuel tank knowledge!! We knew it was somewhere between 60lt but weren’t sure. Yeah might need t get a fair few Jerry cans for when we get going. Plus more water storage until we get a water maker (one day!). Would be great to meet up when we do finally get going towards tue Med! Fingers crossed it’ll be April/May time

@@SailingIndiana We're currently in Figueira De Foz in a beautiful marina. Next stop will be Nazare, Peniche, Cascais, Sines, Lagos, Portimao and then onto Cadiz in Spain. From Cadiz we will go directly to Alcaidesa Marina in La Linea. We should be in La Linea by the end of August. We will take a berth in Alcaidesa until 1st May 2023. We will follow you on AIS. All the best Daryl.

@@SVDreamCatcher1 Wow that is quite the trip!! What an amazing season that will be and already sounds like it is. We did our day skipper course from Gibraltar, La Linear has a lovely fish restaurant within the marina and Alcaidesa was our favourite though, we had a night there too! Apparently you must also visit Marina Motril near there, we have been recommend this marina by a few people now and they have all give great reviews and said staff and owners are incredibly helpful and friendly. We might meet you down there in May then😉🤞🏼

Nice tour, thnx. But I was wondering how you'd get back up on the boat if you fell off by accident 😯 (when you're not in a harbour I mean)... The dinghy is blocking access to the ladder. Or is it temporary?
@SailingIndiana
@SailingIndiana 2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks so much!! Yes that’s a good point, the ladder is definitely obstructed so would be a bit of a nightmare… We are getting a solar arch built and should be able to hang the dinghy off of that, opening up the sugar scoop again🤞🏼

Lovely! We helped with a boat delivery (November 2020) on a 2001 Dufour Gib’Sea 43 - so interesting to see the similarities and differences! Do you guys have any solar, wind, or hydro power? You may have said and I just missed it

Great video, well edited. My wife and I are considering our first boat to be of similar size. Do you ever feel cramped or that your missing out on creature comforts (minus the fridge not working) because of her size, or is 37 feet plenty to comfortably live aboard?
@SailingIndiana
@SailingIndiana 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Great news to hear you’re looking at getting a similar size boat. Our option is that 37 or even 36 is the perfect size. Still small enough to make handling easy, under 40ft means mooring and haul out costs are a lot cheaper, but ultimately it’s got bags of room and we really don’t feel cramped or restricted in any way. Main creature comfort missing os probably a washing machine! But you can get small ones now that work really well we’ve seen, so might invest😅👌🏼
