What a special endeavor it is to take something that others had decided had no value.. but provided you a dream your vision, hard work, your dedication and sacrifice restoring her previous beauty and function. It's a mutual relationship of trust. She trusting you to love and care for her..and in turn..your hands knowing her intimately and confident she is strong and sound and will keep you safe underway. It's a grand adventure that allows for growth of the soul. Purpose is a beautiful thing. Happy travels.

so glad to see you again. this has been a really rough year for me as it may well be my last. But i miss both of your smiles. your free spirits and your individual talents. i also miss the beautiful vistas from you videos.. i say it often but its true. Your both so young and vibrant full of joy for life as an adventure! Your music always soothes my heart. I would just love to meet you real life. i wish i had the pleasure of knowing you personally though i feel like i do through your videos. You were my first channel with regard to the "Salt life" lifestyle and that make you special. I set in my wheelchair and look out the window of my home at the rolling green hills with horses yet and still i long to have spent time on the water.. I am grateful for you both being courageous enough to go for your dreams. Life seems relatively short when i look back. every day matters. Live fully , learn and love as many as you can.Being fulfilled for me means freedom to live as you want within nature? You have my December and January Best season wishes for your happiness. Sincerely i am Art in West Tennessee of USA!

Beautiful boat and a tremendous job restoring her! I'm currently restoring a 50' motor yacht, and it feels like the work never ends. But the enjoyment comes when it's seaworthy. There is nothing like that first time at sea after all the hard work. You both are very talented, and it's great to see how well you work together.

Wow, what a beautiful boat, I love all the teak. I especially like the teak on the sides of the cabin with fiberglass on the top, it’s a nice touch. I’m very impressed with your restoration, You did an amazing job restoring her, I’m so glad you brought her back to life. How sad to thinking she was destined for the landfill. You saved her! It’s obvious she is happy to be alive and sailing.

The Vindö looks so beautiful inside!! And so many modern yachts look like they got their Interieur from Ikea, but cost a fortune even used. I could live in the small space of Magic Carpet but never on a 50ft Jeanneau or Bavaria for 300k.

Thank you for the boat tour. The most beautiful boat I was ever aboard was a Bristol Channel Cutter name "Tradition." And I spent many hours on the phone learning about boats from Lyle Hess, dreaming of building a sister ship to the Pardey's Taleisin. But that was 40 years ago. Now I'm planning to buy something similar to a Cape Dory Typhoon, modify it a bit to suit my purposes, and sail it on lakes in eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Your videos are both entertaining and enlightening. I have grandsons now; I'd like to teach them to sail. The practical solutions and the skilled construction the two of you explain and demonstrate is enlightening and encouraging.

Wonderful tour and wonderful boat. You guys must of put a amazing amount of thought in the rebuild. WELL DONE! I'd like to suggest an idea to add easily on to any boat. Found on a car in sunvissor is a lite mirrror when opened, and when closed the lite goes out. It mounts flush. I think it would be cool and fictional idea to add to the boat. Nice boat. My wife and I set a goal of getting a boat on our honeymoon and unfortunately moved to Colorado right after that. We ended up moving to Mississippi since I was on the external tank project for the Space Shuttle. I ended up working the Orion Space Capsule after that and it was sent to Florida for completion. I saw a great opening and took it. I was there on TDY for 11 months and bought a contest 31. We launched it in June and blew a head gasket right off the bat. That's fixed now and we're launching pretty soon. A friend and I are sailing her over to Mississippi and then my wife3 and trusty dog are taking off for a few weekends. We will be going to Belize or Mexico to go see the ruins we can't get to from a cruise ship. This boat will be for the keys and Bahamas mostly.

About the dryness in seas. Yes, it is built on Orust, a small island in western Sweden and it built for both coastal/archipelago cruising and for taking on the waves of the deadly North Sea. It has to be dry to be sailable there since water temps can get down to deadly levels spring and fall.

You might feel 28' is small, but have a read of Shane Acton's book Shrimpy. He sailed from the UK around the world in easy stages in an 18' Caprice, half way round he met his partner and they carried on together. Ask Santa or see if a library can get it for you as its out of print and copies seem rather expensive, but it is a good read and worth the effort.

I have sailed vicariously with you for many hours. You do well. If I may suggest, please put standard boilerplate in every comment section listing your names, fanciful titles, brief bios, the boat name and make/model, and a listing of the music credits for each video. I watch a lot of sailing channels, and need the reminders and pointers to the music. Maya's musical selections are wonderously eclectic, and are listed in the trailer usually, but it would be nice if they were always in text also. Keep sailing on!

Thank you for the amazing ideas. I wasn't sure you could remove a semi bulkhead like that, I figured it was just the style of the day, but it's neat to see one actually done. All the other ideas were so smart and seamlessly executed, just stunning. The curved mirrored pieces of laminate wood is so striking, particularly in contrast to the light white paint it was my favorite part as well. I did not realize you can sit and stare it at the "female" version from your birth : )
@shanehnorman4 жыл бұрын
Looks like a well-found vessel. It wouldn't take much to make Magic Carpet into a fine little bluewater passage-maker. A bigger water tank and a reinforced companionway would pretty much do it, plus some wires along the deck (for attaching your harness in the event of having to go for'ard in a blow). You might have to forego the solar panels - a bimini is very vulnerable to wave damage - but a wind generator would mitigate the loss, as would putting a small panel on the fore-hatch.
