Great videos! On the buckles, the trailer lights are adjustable, you can move them side to side to allow for buckle to completely close and lock without having to bend the brackets.
@justjimtime16725 жыл бұрын
Im not sure I follow. mine do not appear to be adjustable in any way
@justjimtime16725 жыл бұрын
I just took them apart. Not movable
@nachogtz35125 жыл бұрын
Unless the trailers changed, mine has two screws that secure the taillights to the trailer. You simply loosen the screws to adjust them. The trailer lights can be adjusted. I moved my driver side one to the left so I could lock the buckle without hitting the light.
@justjimtime16725 жыл бұрын
@@nachogtz3512 the screws go threw a single hole in the trailer. I loosened them to see if the light would slide. Mine would not. Maybe they did change it. I was thinking it might look bad if they did slide because the trailer provides the back of the light. If I slid the light out, half of the light back would be exposed and unprotected.
@nachogtz35125 жыл бұрын
I guess they did change it, mine has two screws that I loosened and it allowed me to move the light about 1/4 inch to the left which allowed the buckle to clamp down. Makes it really easy and fast to secure the boat in and out of the water.

I have the same boat, same straps and i simply just unbolted the lights.. move them a notch toward the outside. Straps clear the lights, lights are still inside the trailers wheel well.
@justjimtime16724 жыл бұрын
they changed the trailer. My trailer has metal welded frame that the lights attach to. the metal frame that runs on the inside of the lights is not movable and neither are my lights although it wouldn't matter if they were with the metal trailer frame housing the light being immovable. Ive looked into this before when someone else suggested it. they changed it at some point and it is no longer possible to do what you suggest. if you watch the video perhaps you'll see they are different.

Are the bolts long enough to put a spacer to bring the housing forward to allow the latch go down? Or even if you could, would the housing rub against the light?

Great video! I bought a set of them over the winter for my XL but haven’t installed them yet. I found the regular sized Boat Buckles on sale so that’s what I bought, not the minis. Thinking they’ll fit on alright backwards like you did. Hoping so at least!

I have a question about the mounting hole on the ratchet. If you use the upper hole, would the ratchet housing clear the light? I just purchased my G3 mini from BP. I will try the upper mounting hole and let you know if I have the clearance. Oh, by the way, I have a Bass Tracker Pro 170.
@justjimtime16723 жыл бұрын
Its been awhile but there was no way to mount it forward on my model boat. I also found out that some people with the same model boat had a slightly different trailer design that allowed it to be mounted properly with little adjustment
@dwaineesch13443 жыл бұрын
I installed my G3 Mini on my trailer. I ended up using a small hammer to bend the mounting brackets slightly to allow for clearance of the ratchet handle.

I love the idea of ease of use for some things! But keeping in mind that tie down straps are designed to keep your boat from bouncing on the bunk during transport and not to keep it tied down during an traffic collision I don’t see the benefit of spending the extra cash.
@justjimtime1672 Жыл бұрын
I did not personally buy them for any added tie down capabilities. I simply want something that stays attached to the trailer so I have one less thing to store and go get. Worth it for me.

@@justjimtime1672 That'd be great. I'm also curious about trailering. What I mean by that is how much does the head bounce around? Hope you have time to do some fishing.
@justjimtime16723 жыл бұрын
@@upthecreekyt The head bounces around a lot. I would seriously recommend a stabilizer. So many people post on facebook showing the bow weld cracked open which many say is from the head bouncing both while trailering and on rough water. Ive found some stabilizers I'm interested in but currently I'm using a cheap method. I took a cylindrical card board shipping container that a fishing rod was shipped to me in and cut it to fit with a slot cut in one end that the trolling motor shaft sits in near the head. The weight of the trolling motor keeps it in place while trailering or on the water. You could achieve the same thing with a short section of 3 inch PVC pipe. I'lll put something in the video if I havent already.

Take that trailer to a workshop and cut off that useless bent mounting bracket. Then get a solid bracket professionally welded on to the trailer that perfectly fits the ratchet strap housing.
