Was just cruising around KZbin and was surprised to see our front steps, mailbox, and resident peacocks in your video! They did finally get that old sunken boat out of there. Sadly, no food available in West Sound other than our farm stand that is only open in harvest season. Eastsound and Deer Harbor have food options. More choices in the summer season. Safe travels and enjoy your voyages!

You live in a lovely place. Your peacocks seem to be very outgoing as well! We had a lovely stroll down the road. Maybe next time we will stop by when your farm stand is open. We do love fresh produce! Glad to hear the boat has been removed. Its always sad to see boats on the bottom both from an environmental standpoint and knowing that the boat's time is likely at an end. We have cruised up to Rosario but have never made it all the way to the top of East Sound. Maybe next time! Take care.

You need a pfd for your dog! If he/she did fall in the handle makes rescue much easier, my experience take it for what it's worth

She is super clutzy with a pfd. We have become quite adept at pulling her out by the scruff. Fortunately she is pretty small and light.

@@OnboardTangaroa My little dog has been a boat dog ever since I got her some 14 years ago and though I try to always keep an eye on her I've had more close calls than I'd like to admit. It's been the PFD that has saved her. not only does it make her easier to rescue , even with a boat hook, the bright color also makes her much easier to see in the water and also helps keep her warmer in our cold NW waters. Just some things to consider.

M/Y New Pacific, the big trawler you were admiring in your video is a William Brees built custom yacht. Built around 2008 on the Columbia River in Washington State. Purpose built for its current owner as a cruising trawler for his family. She is beautiful and an amazing boat!

The race fleet is our local J70 fleet. Affectionately known as the J-pod, a tip of the hat to the Southern Resident Killer Whales. Youll find them out along with the Martin 242s on Wednesday afternoons.

I liked the cool old delapilated “1051” tied up between the “New Pacific” and the sunken wreck at time stamp “14:55”. Now that boat has some character! I wonder if she is in as bad of shape as she looks to be. Looks like she needs a bit more than a scrub, scrape & paint.

It does appear to need a bit of love. We are in Steveston now and there are sooooo many cool old fishing boats. I do love old wood boats but could never see myself wanting to do the maintenance on them.

Did you checkout East Sound on Orcas? That's the main town. There is a dinghy dock but you have to walk a few blocks.

We didn't make it up there this trip but got as far as Rosario last time we were in the San Juans. Never made it right up to the top. Have to leave unexplored areas for next time! 😁

Stoked on another episode. Was Tangerora lengthend at some point? Because the props end so far from the transom. I'm not big boat expert though.

We should be able to keep this video pace for a while. Glad you are enjoying them. As far as we know Tangaroa had a 13 foot extension added some time in the 80's which explains the prop position. Inside the hull is all tankage which holds another 1200 gallons of diesel and 500 gallons of water. Its a welcome addition.

Great vid . . Sad about the sunken boat . . . . When you said . "Some pastries mite be nice " . I quickly goole mapped the marina and thought . . Nahh . No pastries . Or any food . . . Nothing came up on the map for food or a shop . . Which seems a bit weird but being an island most of the boat owners live there so no need i guess . . That vid said december . . Glad you enjoyed it! Janis has been working hard at keeping them coming. It was sad to see the sunken boat. It always is. There is a restaurant up in west sound but unfortunately everything was closed for the holidays. Currently we are on our home mooring in Victoria, BC but we are leaving for the boatyard this coming Saturday to install the new engines. There will be tons of footage for that and we are also hoping to do live broadcasts every morning wit updates. We will see how that goes. Take care!

@@OnboardTangaroa Well, as much as I want a pilothouse to enjoy the Salish Sea and the Gulf Islands, I also want it to be a decent sailing vessel. Unfortunately, the one I looked at in West Sound was not the right boat for me so I am still on the hunt.

Tangaroa is a was built by Stephens Brothers in Stockton, California. They built over 1200 boats between 1902 and when they finally went out of business in 1987.
