A much more treacherous inlet is Boynton Beach. Or Hillsboro or Boca Raton. Haulover is tame compared to those I mentioned. I’ve navigated all numerous times. Haulover is tame.

My boat is the scout. A lot of people asked why I took it out of Haulover that day… Turns out we drove from miami beach to bay harbor through icw. When it was time to go back I decided to just take the inlet / ocean back home which took me 20 mins as opposed to two hours. The seas were very rough that day but I know my boat and how to handle her. Besides, calm seas never made a skilled sailor. My motto is it’s best know what the limits are of not only your boat but your experience as well. I think I did an OK job that day

Does anyone know what is the best way to cross the halouver inlet on jet ski? Is it better to go faster and trim up or slower and ride the wave swells? All your input is appreciated

I would watch jet skis going in and out of this area on different wave height days and get the idea. I know coming back in you want to be on the throttle enough that you don't get overtaken by the wave behind you if you ride the trough...that is when bad things happen. Try to stay more up on the backside of the wave in front. But like I said, watch a lot of videos of guys doing it and learn from the ones that do it right. Boats make LOUSY surfboards. And if it's a bad day, especially anything like this, go back home or go find a lake to play in.
