Firstly pull your bumpers in before you go out into the rough and come up to the cushion bow first and let it come along side and then using the boat as a wind break grab it with a boat hook, thats the way ive always done it when something unexpectedly goes overboard…and never jump in the water in rough conditions

@@leftybass5860 In that waves? Stern is pitching up and down. It will be very difficult to get a person on board on that boat. In case of an emergency, I would try to pull out someone on the stern, but in this case not.

Captain made many mistakes and it all started before he even pulled The mooring lines. Captain has to be 100% sure for a safe voyage. No excuse for a boat like that to have a crew that cannot tie a reliable knot and that captain for not knowing the crew.? My vessel would have used this snap system to prevent them from going anywhere. My cooler even has snaps, so I can't believe that yacht doesn't come with that and some tire downs. There's a hook in there somewhere and they just don't know what it's used for. Oh boy and thanks BG for another funny.

Hope you got all of your open positions filled. It's my dream job for sure, but I haven't lived in the S. Florida area for 50 years! I remember having similar challenges coming in and out of Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale. I understand they've made some changes to the inlet since the 70's so, not sure if it's still a challenge or not. Love your videos!

An absence of sea legs on the passenger's part should not constitute a loss on the captain's part. As for that third boat, l probably would have come at those cushions bow first, and try to snag them with a boathook as they came past. But then again, how much of a direct view does he have of anything so low and close to the boat?
@michaelballard7323
@michaelballard7323 Жыл бұрын
For non-people objects adrift, they needed to steer into the seas, and idle the boat right toward the item. If the weather permits, you need a crewman overlooking the bow to point at the item. Capt needs to cut the props and steer away from whichever side the item takes, as soon as he loses sight of it. This pushes the bow away and the stern close, with no props to grind it up. It should pass right next to the hull. Then the crewmen need to recover the item alongside with a BOATHOOK as it passes. If you fail to snag, do it again.

YES, somebody should’ve jumped in to get the cushions and the fender. they could’ve use the cushions as a wakeboard and tried swimming to the boat easily. Also, how do you have a multi million dollar yacht and not have a boat hook on it ?

@dfharris03
@dfharris03 Жыл бұрын
Procedure is all wrong. First, the bow needs to be pointed into the seas/wind for maximum control. Second, the cushions/fenders should be approached upwind of the vessel so that they get blown down into the vessel. Third, this would have been much easier with a boat hook. However, the skinny side decks make that difficult. In fact, it's poor design to have such narrow side decks on such a large vessel. She's really suited to be very nice dock queen.

This is a very dangerous yacht. It does not appear to have REAR helm control. The captain apparently can not see directly behind the stern. NONE of the "Crew?" are water or boat people. I am trying to imagine the mental set of a person that can own a boat like that and not know how to operate it. Very sad.
