I had the Coast Guard Station Cortez do a safety inspection on the Manatee River last year. It was a weekday so it was probably for training because there weren't many on the river. They were very cordial and professional. We went through "the list" and all was good. When I mentioned that I was a US Navy vet, one looked at the other and said, "Yeah, he's squared away. We're done." We chatted for a bit and I asked for one of their hats. They politely said they couldn't and we broke away. A minute later one signaled for me to come back and handed over a hat. Cool guys, just doing their jobs. 😎

Hi, I'm from sweden and I love these clips. And they are so funny to watch because one thing sticks out for us.. the number of outboard engines you Americans put on a boat. We are like this: "-is one 130hp Yamaha enough?" And the sales man says "-well it's recommended with a 115-140hp" and then we have you Americans on the same size and type of boat "-hey man, can I put three 350hp on this one?" And the sales says "-hey, why not four 400hp engines, we can surely find the space for one extra engine.." and you answer "sure, go for it... I think a single engine boat must be a poor mans boat in America..🤣🤣🤣

@@BoatZone very good all 3 times. Our access to the Gulf was out Gordon Pass in Naples. The Marine Patrol and Sheriff inspections were checking for illegal fish. We had a 26ft Offshore with twin 225's and we were set up for fishing. We were catch and release so the inspections were short and very professional. They were more interested in the boat it seemed so they were very cool interactions. The Coast Guard stop was basically a safety inspection and that was very intimidating at rhe start but turned into a very memorable encounter. It's very awe inspiring to see the Coasties up close and personal. I'll never forget it. Thanks for asking, I havnt thought about those days in quite a while. Be safe out there!

Sure it is we do it all the time surfing in San Diego. That jetty he was next to wasn't 10-15 foot high it was literally a foot or two above the water line. Seems like he was fine , I doubt it was him being submerged that called the help in.

@@jerrycallo ...or because there was an Olympic with thier arm out. Who said the life guard are Olympic swimmers? I spent 3 years as a beach lifeguard. @nancywells21474 ай бұрын
Boat boardings are straightforward & painless as long as you are able to: 1) readily produce proper paperwork 2) Prove you have USCG approved PFDs in appropriate sizes for all aboard. 3) All children aboard are *Properly Wearing* their PFDs 4) Captain of vessel has not been drinking/is sober 5) You do not have more people on boat than what your boat manufacturer recommends. 6) Extra points if you can show Captain -and any adult/teen children aboard have taken & passed USCG run boating safety courses.

@MarkDHall4 ай бұрын
@@danzydan2479 Basically when you’re on a vessel, you have no rights. The Coast Guard and other law-enforcement agencies can board any vessel at any time for any reason, and the courts have agreed with this for years. I went through a boat inspection once down in Texas On a giant lake, one of patrol cops were complete jackasses, completely unprofessional and disrespectful in the very beginning. They never found anything which I think made them even matter with Miami buddies. We just kept quiet and didn’t talk to him. They demanded that’s all they got nothing more. We went with the adage. Let’s talk is better.
@richardbeckenbaugh18052 ай бұрын
On lake Washington there are seven local and a county and state jurisdiction. During the summer, all nine jurisdictions compete to see how many citations they can write. You literally get stopped and inspected nine times. Then, if they don’t find anything wrong, they make something up and write a citation for it. Nine times. I’ve gone to court challenging the citations and they just dismiss them. The courts know that they just make things up. By dismissing the citations, they save on lawsuits. A single lawsuit can wipe out any gains made by writing the citations. Seattle, a stupid place to live.
