Ever wondered what it's like to live in a marina on a narrowboat? In this episode we head down the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal for a rare taste of marina life. But as is often the case, boat life throws a few spanners in the works, and results in a frantic cruise down the canal to try and help a poorly member of our crew... 🚤💨

Wes ... I got nightmares so bad that l woke up with my heart racing and too scared to go back to sleep. Turns out it was a Vit B 1 ( thiamine) deficiency ... I take 500 mg at about 6pm and eat some Nutritional Yeast and got instant results.🥰 BIG kiss for Rufus and Dupes.😘

Well this is where I first found you both. I was missing home (Aylesbury) we now live near Mansfield. I lived about 5 mins in car from where you were moored have fire that live in the houses overlooking it. If you ever come anywhere near Mansfield give me a shout. Take care both of you x

We loved the Aylesbury arm and did the same stopped halfway down on the way into Aylesbury but seemed to be quicker to come the other way. I treated myself to a gowindlass last year and then discovered there's not enough space at the locks at the Shardlow end of the t&m to use it without scraping your knuckles and the paddles are so heavy I can't use it at another angle. Glad it helps on other locks though

If you unplug a washing machine (if that was possible) give it a few minutes and the door will unlock. It's an emergency thing apparently xx

So glad Dupes is doing well... I have 20 loved pets on my little farm and when somebody gets under the weather it is pretty stressful and heartbreaking... you dealt with it well. usually a 3 minute timer on washing machine door lock before you are able to open it, ironic when you got back to the machine after getting your second load the door would have been unlocked but you did not try it first and I was sitting here waiting for you to try the door before putting more money in the meter..

The other bummer with the washing machine ending mid cycle is the next person putting money in will have to wait and pay for the previous cycle to finish before they can start theirs! Just a tip for a couple who are so thoughtful for others. Wouldn't want the marina gestapo to march toward your boat with lit torches! Haha

Have you not turned a washing machine off mid cycle? It takes a few minutes before it lets you open the door. That's the same situation here, just need to wait for the click and the door is unlocked.

You should be able to find a collapsible clothing/shower rod that would fit right across the boat width, they come in different lengths. Once in place where you want it you give it a twist and it stays extended. I got mine at a hardware store, I hang it in my full length shower stall and hang up all my clothes to dry. If it’s really humid I run a fan or a little heater just to hurry it along. Glad Dupes was ok.👍🏼🙋🏼‍♀️

Don't think you were pranked - Bosch machines have a "safety delay" on the door opener - so you have to wait a little while before the door opens - hopefully this is all it was - my machine does it - it's very annoying! X

You didn't have to put more money in once the machine has stopped and the program has finished or even if the power goes off like what happened to you once the pressure drops the switch will unlock the door after a few minutes all washing machines do that

I know rains no fun but if it wasn't for the British weather the canals would be a polluted filth of a network. With no fish, water fowl or plants. That rain replenishes the canals with freshness that narrow boaters suck from it. Remember that next time it rains...
