I was about to look for a stuffing recipe but this video came up....its funny I run through the Matt M tendu exercise(which for some reason I love and I also taught it to two dancers and of course I wondered how you were doing with the knee situation. It sounds like you found a very good surgeon in NYC and I wish you the very best outcome Bob. Ive always been a fan of your work and I am happy you have so many new viewers! Have a lovely Thanksgiving.....all best...Jan and Jai

So glad you found a new plan. It will take more time, but I hope will make a big difference by summer!! Loved finding your My Jazz...thank you for all your knowlege, style and teaching. I took a few classes with you at Joy of Motion and loved every one. You have helped me get back to tap with your online inspiration.

Thanks for your optimism - did you take tap from me at JOM?

Yes, but only shortly before you moved to NJ. @@bboross

Thank you for your candor; it could be helpful to others who may go through this. Sorry you're having to deal with more surgery; but hopefully all will turn out well. Sending warm wishes - hang in there!

Thanks - yes I agree, I think that dancers who want to continue high level activity into their later years need to take the result of the daily usage into account. The joints do not last forever, and a hip/knee replacement is not where you want to be in your later years. Slowing down on the volume of activity, and balancing it out with regular structural exercise like Pilates would be a good thing to do.

I was beginning to wonder what was going on. Oof. My friend's dad had a massive shoulder injury repaired with plates and pins and was having severe post-op pain for over a year. No amount of PT helped and then his bloodwork was coming back odd. His blood was becoming abnormally viscous. No usual signs of infection. He had the original surgery done at the Mayo Clinic so best of the best. So when they opened his shoulder up to see what was going on, it was badly infected but was encapsulated under one of the plates. When they sent the sample out to the lab it came back as acne vulgaris bacteria. Somehow either the wound was contaminated or he was exposed as you said by an open cut and that’s where the bacteria set up shop. The lesson is “it happens”. The human body is complex and there’s actually more non-human microbes in our bodies and on or skin than our own cells. It’s a wonder it all just works out, but occasionally one microbe gets out of hand and causes problems. Let us know if you need anything. There are enough people here to pitch in if you need us to.

Thanks for your encouragement. Yes, I wish I was functional and could participate in NYC classes and more. Just have to be patient and optimistic that I hopefully have found a good dr who will do a great job in getting me back on my feet.
