@@anthonycolatrella2438 For the RRHOF to nominate Dolly Parton, when she is so obviously not a Rock artist, was certainly a joke. And then when she tried to tell them so, they acted as if she wasn't smart enough to know her own music genre. Their response to her was arrogant and sexist. Meanwhile, Rock legends like Bob Crewe and Jackie DeShannon go unrecognized. For shame! They are all about celebrity, style over substance (which isn't to say that Dolly lacks substance). One day, somebody's gonna figure out that there needs to be an alternative to the RRHOF.

I guess you could say he was a genious. I think that looking at him in this interview, i realize that i had crossed paths with him in buildings/ elevators , streets, in Manhatten, NYC, back in the 1960s when i was in the music business. I never knew all these years that he was affiliated with Hutch Davie. Hutch produced my record, "My Guy Is Boss" for Cameo Records, back in 1964.

What an interesting part of your life you shared, thank you. How impressive to have recorded for Cameo Records and I will look up the song you recorded. Bob Crewe worked with Cameo records back in the 1960’s. Thank you so much for your comment.

Oh yes he was and beyond recognition, as statistically surpassed Phil Spector who you’ve always heard and read of, aside from the murder rap. Bob Crewe should have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Nancy Sinatra sang " You Only Live Twice". for the the theme song of that Bond film, as far as i can remember.

Yes, that is correct, but Crewe also recorded a great instrumental version in the style of “Music To Watch Girls By”- it is on an album- and you can find it on KZbin

This is the clip to see for anyone who saw Bob Crewe as a lisping, mincing "queer" stereotype in the musical and film "Jersey Boys". Speaking as someone who met him (albeit long-distance) , I can assure you he was NOTHING like that. Here you get a look at and a listen to Bob as he really was - serious in demeanor and far better-looking than any of the actors who have portrayed him. Incidentally, Bob and Dick Clark had known each other since the mid-1950s when both of them were affiliated with the Swan record label. Dick is in the RRHOF, and Bob should be, too.

I could not agree with you more, and how fortunate you are to have met Bob Crewe, albeit long distance. I would be very interested to know as I am a huge Crewe fan and one who strongly believes he has not received the credit or recognition so deserved in the music field. I am a fan of Gordy, Spector, Wilson, and others who you hear so much more about, and that’s ok, but what about Crewe????

@@georgemusic4all4seasons I met Bob over the telephone in 1995 or '96. He graciously had agreed to an interview about his friend Ellie Greenwich and the Sixties Girl Group sound; I was writing the liner notes for a 2CD set of Girl Group classics. Some were written and produced by Bob. What I remember most is how dynamic he was. Dude had a kind of lion's growl in his voice. There's a song recorded by The Orlons called "Goin' Places" that he wrote and produced. The lyrics say: "He's tough and he knows his stuff/'Cause he's my push, push, push-on baby/I picked me a winner and I do not mean maybe." That lyric describes Bob Crewe to a tee. "Assertive" is an understatement: His personality was almost overwhelming.

yes, Bob was rightfully very upset how he was portrayed in the show---not like him at all---lodged complaints to the director but obviously to no avail---!! Peter Gregus who was the actor who played him has revealed Bob's anger about this!

@@anthonycolatrella2438 Dan Crewe has stated that such a demeaning portrayal would never be allowed today. I think it would be worse! Stereotypes, especially Gay stereotypes, are back in vogue. Nobody cares how silly they make us look, and there's no concept or understanding of bisexual people at all. No wonder most celebrities stay closeted!
