Old one sounds fuller more realistic, new one lacks bass extension, vocals sibilants and highs etched.

I have a pair of KLF 30's which have 12 inch woofers. I replaced everything which consisted of the Bob Crites Titanium tweeters, mid range drivers and crossovers. I replaced the woofers with Ciare HW321 woofers. I can tell you first hand that these speakers sound WAY better now, and anyone who thinks that the original setup is better needs to hear them in person. These upgrades are not only worth it, they are an absolute MUST for any serious audiophile. You can't tell anything from watch a video on KZbin, you have to listen to these LIVE.

DISCO-INFERNO-70 I’m not sure of how to answer your comment but I will say this, I bough the Bob Crites and installed them on these speakers in this video. I’m not rich and IMO the small difference in the sound is to me not worth the money and that’s just me personally. I did rink the over sound was improved and sounded good but not an additional $400...
@dcaseng6 жыл бұрын
I did the crossovers and woofers as well. You'd be surprised what a difference that makes.
@Gioxtream5 жыл бұрын
I know about the Ciare HW321. But ....I did not know about the new tweeters and mid range. Could you tell me the model of the new tweeters and Mid range??? Titanium maybe???
@danorfremembas58305 жыл бұрын
It makes a big difference. Do the tweeters and Crossovers and you're hearing them as you should. Then, have the right components going to them and you'll be shocked. This goes for nay Klipsch.
@dcaseng3 жыл бұрын
@@MD-tl5zf the changes I made don't change the overall "Klipsch sound", in my opinion. The main part of the Klipsch signature is the horn arrangement. The drivers I use are within Klipsch specs, but can be driven harder. The Ciare woofers are also in the same frequency range, but much higher quality, and can be driven WAY harder. This is only an issue for people who are sticklets for sticking with OEM parts. My speakers sound better, while retaing the Klipsch sound. The best way I can describe it is is Klipsch had made a KLF 50 model, this would be it.

I have a pair of KlF 20's they sound amazing!!! Crisp highs and deep lows
@darkskyexplorer71093 жыл бұрын
The original KLF 20s were built just fine as is. To me I find the crites provide way too much treble.
@thomasnew86065 жыл бұрын
to me - I have owned the KLF20s for nearly 15 years...I agree the crossover can be upgraded or if anything refreshed. But I think the drivers in the original design are just fine

Bought mine new around 1998-99. Still blow me away after all these years.

New definitely sounds better. Crisper with more air and detail. Better sound stage.
@georgea37475 жыл бұрын
Ummmm how can you comment on the sound stage when only 1 speaker was playing at a time ?

One of the new driver could be out of phase, check the connection. Did you use a spectrum analyzer?

Can someone please help. I have the klf10s and would love to upgrade the tweeter to the ti diaphragm.
@jgebauer17 жыл бұрын
There was some very loud banging and slamming noises as soon as you played the original speaker. weird!
@bigelile075 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the uploader banging around shit in the background. 😔
@mrGoesto115 жыл бұрын
I don't think the "upgrade" one is worth $400. The old one is missing some highs but makes way up for it on the nice lows.
@scottlowell4935 жыл бұрын
I've not modded the KLF series, but from my several forte II and chorus II mods I can say this: The crossover re-cap or upgrade to crites alone makes a vast difference. The stock klipsch crossovers are pretty poor. The stock tweeters are phenolic, rolled off well below 20khz. They are opaque and harsh to my ears. Just the Crites titanium tweeter diaphragm mod alone made a huge difference because the titanium is linear, without breakup and extends well past 20khz. Swapping both crossovers and tweeters out raises the speakers far beyond what the factory produced. A whole new league of improvement that anyone, including non-audiophiles, can easily hear. So, $400 to elevate from mediocrity to world-class? DEFINATELY worth it!
@Miki-mf5uj3 жыл бұрын
very similar!
@Smedleydog14 жыл бұрын
They sound different. The difference could probanly be achived with a little equalization. I generally prefer more bass, especially at lower volumes, over an airish, tinny sounding speaker. And that was the big difference I could hear. Most likely hearing them in person might sound a lot different than through your microphone, youtube compression, my amp & speakers.
@thomasnew86065 жыл бұрын
that little sub is not worthy of being next to the KLFs...sorry off topic a bit. And I used to have the KLF20s - really kick ass speakers if you have enough room to let them "sing". Still they sound great at low volumes running full range
@Bill-Rocker4 жыл бұрын
How can you judge audio on youtube? But, still, thanks for trying. The old one sounded better to my ears, clearly more full, again to my ears. I have 30's with titanium tweets, no other mod, and now I want no other mod. I have 20's with replacement tweet, treated fabric that I prefer to titanium, maybe.....

Good try at this. Very difficult to judge true fidelity on Utube. I did the mod on my 30s and made a SIGNIFICANT difference in depth and clarity as have all the heritage line I have as well. Crites doesn’t change values , only uses MUCH higher quality caps/ resistors and transformers. Far superior to stock which IMO Klipsch would have for not meeting a price point

I hope you played that in mono, not stereo.

The old one sounds more warm and full new one depends on what musice seems like the new tweets would be fatigue but they are detailed just probably depends on music
@deanredlin83802 жыл бұрын
Are you kidding could you make any more noise when someone's trying to compare the two you made nothing but a bunch of noise in the background while I was trying to listen to the right you need to do this whole thing over again and make no noise that's ridiculous
@ndayananda3 жыл бұрын
I agree with most others. The old one is warmer and the new too bright
@michaelvickers893 жыл бұрын
I agree with that also.
@scottwormwood82216 жыл бұрын
You cant compare whether or not you should replace your speaker components and crossover based off the items you got from a website from someone that supposedly has a ton of knowledge. Some people like his crossovers and some do not, I do not because they sound like they a crossing over off and lack in sound on low end.
@stevenmetz53633 жыл бұрын
Mr Crites passed away this week and he dedicated his life into building this brand. If the product was really trash it would have never gotten off the ground. Put some respect on the entrepreneur.
@masterblaster26263 жыл бұрын
The upgraded speaker definitely sounded brighter ... maybe too bright. The original speaker seemed more balanced. I wonder how only the tweeter upgrade would sound. I assume that you've got the upgraded tweeter and upgraded xover. Bottom line ... I think that i like the original better.

Agree. Slap a good quality EQ in the chain and you can get even better results.

How could this be a good comparison, not the same sound comes out of left and right channel...unless you had it on mono?
@anthonyblack97412 жыл бұрын
You sabotaged your own test by taking a objective comparison and making it subjective by stating which was the old crossover and the new crossover. Never do that. Use the phrase “a” and “b” and let the listener make up their mind without bias. The klipsch fans such as I will always choose the original over any so called upgrades even if there is an “improvement” in the new parts.
@gpinboy993 жыл бұрын
Ya that banging noise ruined the video

OLD ONE SOUNDS MORE NATURAL AND UNCOMPRESSED....I FEEL AN HARMONIC DISTORTION ON THE ORIGINAL.....THAT HARMONIC DISTORTION IS MISSING ON THE NEW ONE. I HAVE A GOOD LISTENING JUDGEMENT. TRUST ME. ON THE OTHER HAND...IS A MATTER OF TASTE.
