I'm listening to Blonde On Blonde tonight for the first time in years. I first started listening to it as a moody teenager, now it resonates even more as a 52 year old middle-aged man, beaten down by the shitty vicissitudes of life. But Bob is always there. I can't go on, I must go on. Greetings from Ireland.

"Blonde On Blonde" is Bob's greatest album for me, followed closely by "John Wesley Harding". What makes this record so great isn't just Bob's songwriting and performing genius, it's the fantastic virtuoso Nashville session musicians who were called in to back him up. Kenny Buttrey's drumming is among the greatest ever recorded.

Well, your railroad gate, you know I just can't jump it Sometimes it gets so hard, you see I'm just sitting here, beating on my trumpet With all these promises you left for me But where are you tonight, Sweet Marie? Well, I waited for you when I was a-half sick Yes, I waited for you when you hated me Well, I waited for you inside of the frozen traffic When you knew I had some other place to be Now, where are you tonight, Sweet Marie? Well, anybody can be just like me, obviously But then, now again, not too many can be like you, fortunately Well, six white horses that you did promise Were finally delivered down to the penitentiary But to live outside the law, you must be honest I know you always say that you agree Alright, so where are you tonight, Sweet Marie? Well, I don't know how it happened But the river-boat captain, he knows my fate But everybody else, even yourself They're just gonna have to wait Well, I got the fever down in my pockets The Persian drunkard, he follows me Yes, I can take him to your house, but I can't unlock it You see, you forgot to leave me with the key Ah, where are you tonight, Sweet Marie? 🎵🎶🎵🎶 Well, I've been in jail, where all the mail showed That a man can't give his address out to bad company And now I stand here, lookin' at your yellow railroad In the ruins of your balcony Wondering where you are tonight, Sweet Marie

@@sgtpepper227 Late response but in Texas he's very well known. I've seen him and his band a few times in Austin back in the day. So much fun dancing!! 100%unique sound! Funky rocknroll Tex-Mex. Some of their early live recordings are on KZbin. Augie Meyers on farfisa organ had a signature style that was instantly recognizable. Bringing it all back around Bob was a big fan way back in the 60's but later, oh in the early 2000's he had Augie on organ for 2 of his albums Love and Theft and Time Out of Mind. RIP Doug Sahm

First time I heard Jason & The Scorchers version, I had no idea it was a classic. I’m crazy over the Scorcher’s turn! This Bob guy does a pretty good job, too.

One of my favorite Dylan songs and not sufficiently renowned, except for "To live outside the law you must be honest". But the lyrics throughout are so clever. It's what Dylan is known for, after all.

wowowowoowow Dylan! 60 years and still rolling.... this song reminds me of a girl I loved since she was born, too young, but we stayed friends...she was IT... Most of what i've written somehow seems to be about her...etc.../////

I've been looking for the real version of this song! Accompanying Dylan on acoustic guitar and harmonica are members of "The Nashville A-Team", including guitarists Charlie McCoy, Wayne Moss, and Joe South; pianist Hargus "Pig" Robbins; bassist Henry Strzelecki; and drummer Kenny Buttrey, plus guitarist Robbie Robertson and organist Al Kooper, both of whom also took part in the New York sessions. In my opinion, Dylan is one of the most creative songwriters.

Very nice I love this song and Bob your most excellent voice and harmonica in this is just thrilling! Thank you so much Bob for all the beauty you have given to my life! It is my birthday today and listening to you is most important every day but today especially! I love you Bob and pray for you every day for protection, preservation, prosperity in every way and for every blessing possible! Nice that the lyrics are added in the description. I have never seen that on the official Bob Dylan channel before; that is often a job I like to do in the comments! 🤍 xox
