I watch this today, 8/9/23, with tears rolling down my cheeks. With the passing of Robbie Robertson, all the members of The Band, who I listened to in my little room, on my quadraphonic 8-track stereo, as a teenager in the ‘70s, are gone except Garth. Dylan and The Band were a huge part of the sound track of my youth. May God rest his soul. Rest in Peace, Robbie Robertson.

The greatest musicians in the world are not the ones who are the most technically proficient or can pull off the flashiest solos, but those who can lock into what’s going on around them and serve the song. That is why I’m arguing that The Band has the world’s most incredible players. Throughout this concert, they proved they can play in a variety of different genres, back up an eclectic mix of artists, and make it all sound seamless. I tip my hat to Robbie, Levon, Richard, Rick, and Garth for being the best in the biz!

@davidgibbs381 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the best moment of the 'Last Waltz'. I have to think they had no idea what Dylan was up to but it sure didn't fool them. Levon straining to keep his eyes on Dylan from behind with Rick & Robbie focused on the movements of Dylan's hands. Rick knows what's up as soon as Dylan's first chord; the way he breaks into that smile & immediately starts bouncing.

People claim that Bob changed his sets live as standard without regard of band... This proves that as BS. Bob clearly is leading with such a strong connection it takes a word, a look, and a nod and they are all on same songpage. That look at 4:28 and the transition at 4:32 is electrifying. One of the best 👌 I don't think people appreciate how connected and in sync with each other they where to be able to play flow and sound like that ❤
@cruzcontrol130311 ай бұрын
Great moment at about 4:17… Bob plays a D7 and you can actually see Bob mouth the words “7th” to Robbie, a chord perfect for transitioning to “Let Me Follow You Down”. Once he starts the riff The Band immediately jumps in, its so perfect it seems like they worked it out in advance, but it’s wild that it was completely impromptu by Bob

You can see that The Band was peaking that night. Those beautiful heartfelt Robbie Robertson solos are just perfect.
