it’s very clear that in this songs he is conveying his feelings on being the “voice of a generation” and how he’s given up on it

A song conjured by a uniquely gifted writer & performer, on the cusp of a frontier of comprehension of the complexity of the problems facing mankind that we have completed failed to grasp & is now culminating in our ultimate destruction. I have lived a relatively fortunate life & will be content to have these lyrics playing out in my final moments 😌

I posted this for my ex, who I'm still close with, who was so sad about turning 40. She was so happy. This song changed her view. She embraced she wasn't old at all. I was happy to help.

Bob realized that in order to grow as an artist he needed to free himself from the political movement he was associated with. He realized that writing protest songs, while good in and of its self, would end up being an artistic cul de sac. He had already written several immortal and timeless classic protest songs. He had reached that peak and said all he had to say. He was right, it was time for him to move on. Yeah man, dont follow leaders, watch parking meters !

His songs stand even today. Dylan is a prophet. I was elated when he went through a different and deeper spiritual journey. Trials of mankind. His words speak even if he wasn't totally aware himself of how much and to how many. Certainly spoke to me. To each their own. Free choice is yours.

It’s easier to appreciate the lyrics now that I am older yet despite the pitfalls and pain inflicted by life, we all wake up daily somehow younger than yesterday, somehow.

It's interesting to me now to notice how clear his diction is. He really wanted the world to hear his poetry.
