But, let's leave this business of "saving the world" out of it for now. This song, songs, music, across genres, is about joy, fun, sharing, creating a more positive feeling, reducing the negativism in the 'individual' mindspace..... If the songs help you feel better, get better, hear them.... Or. pass on..........! Let's not get into saving the world..... Please!

Yes, that just about sums it up. Great poetry but the thoughts behind it are very much confused, IMHO. We do need to make judgements and discriminate good from bad and right from wrong in our lives.

the older i get the more i am impressed with his early recordings. how could a boy as young as Dylan was, write all that stuff with so much insight? and his guitar playing is perfect while not. there's something VERY special going on. he's got to be an old soul. not his first rodeo i suspect.

He is unique and a genius, but I also feel the younger generation of his time had so much more about them than present generations. There was certainly more inspiration and creativity. I'm a Boomer and found Dylan in 1976!! It changed my life.

Agreed plus his melodies. Some of Dylan's melodies are ordinary but this one and MTM are astonishing. I had a Duane Eddy LP where he did all Dylan tunes and as instrumentals , Dylan's song were utterly superb.

I think, Lennon, McCartney, Jager, Richards, Harrison, Springsteen and everyone else knew that Dylan was the Number One Songwriter of the world - and one of the most signifikant artists in human history. I am sure that in later centuries they will look back on him as we look back on Mozart, Michelangelo, Shakespeare or Van Gogh.

Bob realized that in order to grow as an artist he needed to free himself from the political movement he was associated with. He realized that writing protest songs, while good in and of its self, would end up being an artistic cul de sac. He had already written several immortal and timeless classic protest songs. He had reached that peak and said all he had to say. He was right, it was time for him to move on. Yeah man, dont follow leaders, watch parking meters !

His songs stand even today. Dylan is a prophet. I was elated when he went through a different and deeper spiritual journey. Trials of mankind. His words speak even if he wasn't totally aware himself of how much and to how many. Certainly spoke to me. To each their own. Free choice is yours.
