Hey Polo, love watching and listening to you. Would you please, please, pretty please listen to Pink Floyd’s One of these Days (the live version from the Pulse show. It’s on KZbin). You’ll love the bass on this one but will be blown away by David Gilmour playing the steel guitar (I think that’s what it’s called). It’s so cool and he gives a cheeky close up glance to the camera towards the end as if to say ‘not bad eh.’ X

Thank you for this Polo. I loved Dylan's songs when they were played on the radio in the 60's and 70's. By chance, I moved to the small town he grew up in, Hibbing, a mining town in rural Northern Minnesota 30 years ago, and rediscovered him and all the wonderful music he has created since I was 20. I too love his voice on "Spanish is the Loving Tongue". There is another song he sings that I have been listening to on repeat this summer, just to try to live in his voice, it contains so much care and emotion. I had often thought of asking you to react to it, but hesitated as it a cover, not his own composition and I was afraid you might not hear and appreciate his voice as much as I do. The song is very short, barely two minutes, It is "Pretty Saro". I would love it if you would react to it some fine day. I have enjoyed your reactions for over a year now. You do such a good job.

Bob's throw away songs are among his best. They just didn't get the attention they deserved. Thanks for this, and spreading the music to some who would otherwise miss it.

"Spanish Is The Loving Tongue", originally "A Border Affair", was a poem written by Charles "Badger" Clark, a real working cowboy, especially Arizona and first published in 1907. Badger Clark was one of many cowboy poets that had their verse put to music, sometimes "borrowed", sometimes original. He was Poet Laureate of AZ for many years. Typical of the folk tradition, the lyrics (poem) acquired some melody and a song was born. Badger Clark was supposedly surprised when he later learned his poem (A Border Affair) was set to music and known as Spanish is the Loving Tongue. It has been recorded many times, from Eddy Arnold to Don Edwards (my favorite) and Emmylou Harris (a gorgeous lament). Check out Don Edwards, Michael Martin Murphey, Ian Tyson, and Juni Fisher for some fine musicianship and oral folk tradition tunes. There is a book by Jack Thorp--a collection--of poems and lyrics that was collected over many years and published as lyrics/poems. Jack Thorp collected and published his book first. (I have a 1911 second edition) Others followed, most notably the folk and cowboy music collections by Alan and John Lomax for the Smithsonian. During the Great Depression the WPA paid for collecting and recording music from Appalachia, the South, North, West, East, and both coasts. A lot of the songs you hear by the Carter Family and others were among them. House of The Rising Sun was one of the collected songs, estimated to be 200 years old.

That's a great why to put it, when you are young you don't yet really understand your emotions. And when you're older you do, and oddly that itself is a kind of loss, because you're emotions can no longer run wild.

Love, love love this. Piano played in its purist form always goes straight to my soul. When it's played in a love song, it is doubly beautiful.

The original Dylan version was released as the B-Side of his single “Watching The River Flow” it was also featured on the Australian release album Masterpiece. It is similar to this version but, even more heartfelt if you can believe that. Wonderful reaction. “If You See Her Say Hello” is another beautiful love song.

Lovely song.Dylan's words and inflections are equally important in the way this song is presented.I do think other than the spurs being mentioned, and possibly the "crossing the line" reference to the border this could be a song about any time period.

Great pick Polo...i really look forward to ur reactions!!! This is a beautiful song...no one sings songs about lost love like Dylan...some other beautiful songs by him along these lines: If you see her say Hello, A Simple Twist of Fate, Most of the Time, and Dont Think Twice its alright, and make you feel my Love-album versions on all of these are so GOOD! His songs stay with you!! Thanks again...

I don't know if this is the right place to suggest this but I'd love a reaction video to Van Morrison's Veedon Fleece album. Pretty much anything from the album, maybe "Bulbs" (which is a little bit more of an easily digestible track), "Cul-de-sac" or "You don't pull no punches, but you don't push the river". This album to me seems to be one of those that hits every single note for epic music. Absolutely capturing the soul of something abstract so you feel it on another level entirely. You could check out "A Review of Veedon Fleece" by The Passionate & Objective Jokerfan. I think he has such an amusing way of summing up how bizarre and magical Veedon Fleece is. He's called a poet-sorcerer for a reason! Anyway, I love your videos. I love that you include Dylan and so many other interesting artists, such a wide range of content. Thank you for sharing!!
