Problem #1 is the film is only an hour & 45 minutes long. In a world where Killers of the Flower Moon is 3.5 hours & Oppenheimer is 3 hours, Bob Marley deserved more than just a 1.5 hour film to cover his life.

I enjoyed One Love, Kingsley Ben Adir (Whilst not totally resembling Marley) embodies him perfectly and IS Bob Marley. To say that the actor himself sang and learnt to play the guitar for the role, proves how much he got into portraying the legendary singer. Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel & No Time to Die) is equally very strong as his wife Rita. If you are a fan of Marley's classic hits (And let's face it who isn't) you will be humming throughout the movie. What I like as well is director Marcus Green decided to not hold back on the Jamaican accent, and the actors worked very hard with their dialect coaches to give as authentic accent as possible which makes the movie feel all the more real. As biopics go, it's a relative simple affair and at no time hits the heights of say Bohemian Rhapsody, but it zips by at 1 hour 45 mins. I would say however there are slight pacing issues as the movie flips between present day and Bob and Rita's courtship, which I found a little jarring and could have been handed differently. My verdict: Good but not great

@nerdypythonmedia334310 ай бұрын
I feel like they definitely played it safe here by not delving too deep into the more dramatic moments of his life. I also wasn't sold on the chemistry between Ben and Lashana because they didn't seem like 2 people in love. You'd think that a married couple with more than a few YOUNG children would be more intimate. As for the good, I really love the exploration of Rasta culture, specifically the Nyahbinghi, which is a legit sector of Rastafarianism. All individual performances were great, including Ben and Lashana and they did a great job capturing life in the streets of Jamaica. As someone with plenty of Jamaican friends and family the accents and mannerisms were on point 🤣

It was an Amazing movie, not only did it capture his spirit very well but also his story and his story revolves around spreading the message of jah. The actual story of bob was pretty on point but to me this movie is about ras tafari and the message it has in the reggae music. Also i feel The one thing people will misunderstand is the god talk. God technically was before man, god is of no color, but to a Rasta they look the start of mankind as when our first primate species started to evolve. Which with factual evidence we knew did stem from Africa. Which is why they say the god of man to them is darker with kinkier hair and brown eyes because all of man roots back to those first humans. However god, Rasta goes even before mankind. It’s life and we are all life. I and I

I just finished watching the movie and was very disappointed. From the opening lines that were put on the screen, l said that should have been at the end of the movie. Once, l got over the actor not looking, sounding, or dancing close to Bob Marley, l could focus on the essence of what l was viewing. The theme as l saw it was he was a unitifing force in jamaica. As a producer, Ziggy could have dived more into his childhood as a starting point than climax to what he was a great reggae artist worldwide. There was not much showing of Jamaica's beautiful landscape more of London, England, which was frustrating as he is a jamaicain icon. The whole time, you're waiting to see "The one love peace concert" with Manley and Seaga two opossing leaders of the political parties. all you got was an olding video of their backs turned for a few moments to the audience. Overall, l wanted to support this biopic of Bob as my heritage is Jamaican and see it in the theater, but coming away saddened that a better product could not have shown made to honor Bob Marley.

The fact he was a serial womanizer, had 11 children (only a few with Rita), missed out on his childhood story pretty much entirely. Also, couldn't understand a damn thing anyone was saying. However, as a Bob Marley fan I have watched several of his documentaries so I understood the context behind the movie. This movie focuses on a small period, the height of his career, 1976 - 1978 or 79 years and the making of his iconic album Exodus. We see how Rastafarism has an influence on his music. We also get a glimpse into his relationship with Rita which was a very complex one but the movie shows that they had mad love for each other. I really am glad it did not delve too much into his past, so many biopics become too long as a result. I agree the acting was great.
