A genuinely sincere man, he would, and does, help anyone. Best British comedian bar none.
@vordman Жыл бұрын
Which, let's face it, makes him the best in the world.
@johngalvin3124 Жыл бұрын
@vordman Agreed. He wrote them, he sold them, he told them. Top writer, top seller, top deliverer. And on top of that, he would give them away to help any up and coming comic that needed a leg up. A very human being who would listen for hours after a show to any member of the audience in any kind of pain, something I witnessed.

What de fook chew talkin' about mon? He curses, he blue and the 'genuine laughs' are of a sexual nature. More power to de Monk!

I actually really enjoyed that. Clean, innocent and entertaining. I wasn't mad about him to be honest when he was alive I found him overly sincere which seemed fake. However, he didn't need to swear and was still funny.

Did Jimmy Carr model himself on Monkhouse or what? Their deliveries are very similar.
@Picnicl8 жыл бұрын
I think he probably partly did. I'm sure I've heard him speak affectionately of Bob Monkhouse and the far away look in to the audience or some mid distance in his mind is definitely a hallmark.
@JohnnyDogshit3 жыл бұрын
No, Jimmy Carr modelled himself on a ventriloquist's dummy.

I quite like Bob and some of the jokes are good, but I don't like the cheesy cabaret style, the cheap racial gags or the old joke recycling. Not a patch on the likes of Richard Pryor or George carlin, but then Bob was an old school entertainer, not really a true comedian.

That was a truly woeful 15 minutes. I've always heard people say Bob Monkhouse was brilliant when not on mainstream t.v. Clearly, how very wrong. Anyway, back to Jimmy Jones. A comedian that's actually funny.
