What can I say, so great. big Bob Mould fan to start with. Then, my wife's name is Cinnamon, and we lived many years in Indonesia and the Philippines. "Surrender" -- a killer song on all counts -- is the only rock song to feature both countries! Woohoo.

Saw them on this tour, backup for The Pixies at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC. Loved Husker Du, adored Bob Mould, covered Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young. Was amazing. Amazing. Standing on the edge of the Hoover Dam!

Amen. As I watched this video, I kept thinking that Peter Buck was out of his depth on stage with Bob Mould.
@Arturo-sm1tb2 жыл бұрын
@@patricktracey3916 Buck out of his depth many times in his career with others on stage, but he was a perfect guitarist for REM, especially the early years. Even Peter knows he is an average musician in comparison to most of the greats of his era. He had something special with Stipe, Millsey and Berry and a superb sense of FEEL for his instrument and the songs. No Peter Buck, no REM.

Man, I wish I'd been there. I'd seen REM in Dublin the previous year, the concert that U2 came to, when REM were touring Green and came to Dublin and showed U2 how to be the best band in the world. Apart from the performances, the really moving thing for me in this is the onstage electric fan. Athens GA in July must have been sweltering onstage.

My Live at Budokan cassette has long ago bit the big one though this isn't a bad version of Surrender either. Got Cheap Tricks greatest on CD but it isn't the same...too tame. Always liked Young's Cinnamon Girl and have that album it's on too; sound of the Guitar better there as the Guitar here is too muffled but that might be the recording equipment..
