I'll say it, freakin' Bob Mould is a national rock and roll treasure. The formula hasn't changed, and why should it? Always great hooks, melodies, lyrics, and that unmistakable voice.

The mix is great, but let's not forget the DIY punk aesthetic that allows for bands to hone their craft and become as tight as the nuts on a new bridge. All 3 bands represented in this set were tight af live.
@aljustal65544 жыл бұрын
The first three songs are three of the first five songs on Sugar's 1992 debut disc entitled "Copper Blue". The next three are from Bob's 2012 solo disc "Silver Age". The last three are all from Husker Du's 1985 disc called "Flip Your Wig". The net result is a spin through some of the high points in the decades of Bob's artistry----all in under a half hour.

I recall listening to Bob live on KEXP around 2005. This was around the time he was re-embracing the Husker past. Just him on guitar. He expressed some concern about not having his usual gear, then proceeded to nail the whole set on borrowed equipment, with the signature sound you'd expect. 'Legend' is thrown around casually in some cases- not in Bob's.
@kendavid28668 жыл бұрын
If Fender made a Bob Mould Signature Strat, I'd buy it...and play the crap out of it HOPING to sound like Bob!
@NikFarr7 жыл бұрын
The good news is, they did... kinda. Bob plays stock Fender Strat Plus models, so if you pick up one of those, you've got one piece of the puzzle in place! (But recreating his amp configuration... well, that's a whole other issue.)
@Bansidhe7 жыл бұрын
I'm sure he uses Fender Lace Sensor pickups. Not sure if any Strats have them as standard but you could easy pick up a set preowned and just swap them out. An MXR Distortion Plus pedal would be a good investment too. That said, so much of the sounds is from Bob himself.
@Jacksmusicshack5 жыл бұрын

His best sound came from a Ibanez rocket roll sr. And a mix of solid state and tube amps, oh and a distortion + and boss chorus (blue)
@DSG-br5lk2 жыл бұрын
I had the chance about around 1990-91 in a guitar shop in VA to buy a used strat that was pretty much the clone of his 1987 Lake Placid Blue strat with the lace pickups and maple neck. Same year too I believe. $500 I didnt have..... I did get to see him play his on the Black Sheets of Rain tour in a small club, so I have that as my consolation.

What I like the most about this is that Bob still plays with the passion of a teenager just learning their trade. He loves music and it shows. Over the years he hasn't relied on his past success. We are lucky to have Bob and that he still loves to jam.

So, I saw the Mould Monster with Husker Du in Paris many years ago, then with Sugar in the UK a few times. I thought he had disappeared to live life as a cuddly riverbank creature but no....here he is still rocking out like a maniac...this is the best live performance from anyone that I have seen in ages. If God did exist, surely it would look and sound like Bob Mould!
