Actually, Peter Gould created Saul Goodman. Which is why Vince passed theain show runner credit to Peter for the show Better Call Saul.

Saul’s part in the BB episode when he’s introduced was initially written for the Mike character, but when the actor had a schedule conflict, they changed it to Saul. Ended up being a bigger part than planned, similar to Jesse’s, and it was another game changer for the show. Funny how things work out!

@@danielacastaneda1 that's true but the other way around I think, I believe it was Mike who was not supposed to exist at first, as Saul would be the one to go to Jesse's house after Jane dies to sort things out, but Bob Odenkirk couldn't make it on those filming dates, so they created this no nonsense type character who resolves situations, similar to "mr wolf" from Pulp Fiction, hence the character of Mike was created.

I never knew (my bad) who Bob was until I watched "Breaking Bad" and then "Better Call Saul," but I soon fell in love with him. His ability to portray pathos and vulnerability while at the same time playing someone whom most people would see as a worthless schemer just drew me in--I believe that there are many Saul/Jimmy's in the real world who desperately wish to be "better" underneath all the necessary shadiness. I didn't know that he'd had a heart attack, and I hope he stays healthy now--and continues to listen to his wise children.

It's called confabulation and is common in various health-related circumstances/conditions. I'm glad Bob Odenkirk is okay now and made full recovery from the heart attack!! I know we're all looking forward to the sixth season...Better Call Saul is such a great show!

It was never cancelled. The show had been renewed for the sixth season while they were still filming season 5. Season 6 was supposed to air starting in February of 2021, but filming had been delayed because of the pandemic. They were finally able to resume production last spring, but Bob had his heart attack in July, so filming had to be placed on hold until he recovered.

When I was like 10, I used to sneak downstairs after bedtime to watch Mr. Show with Bob and Dave. I didn't get half the jokes until I was older but this man and Dave Cross were so funny and engaging, I just loved them. Mr. Odenkirk will always have a special place in my heart because of that and when he finally found true success with Breaking Bad, I might have been the happiest person outside of his immediate family. He's like the weird uncle I never mind being left alone with.
