I know this is a year old, but I gotta respond to this. Bob Odenkirk is celebrated as one of the greatest comics of our time, having spent his entire career writing comedy, stand-up, for SNL as well as improvising humor in just about everything he's been in. He's starred in two of the greatest shows in the history of television and has been in more than a few movies. On what planet is Bob Odenkirk underrated?

@Commander Shepard I had to Google it because I didn’t get it either but basically those chewing gums were wrapped in comic strips so he pretended like he wanted to chew the gum when in reality he was just opening them up to read the jokes. That itself is the joke, lol. I’ve never heard of bazooka chewing gum before so I was confused too 🤣
@TheLokiBiz3 жыл бұрын
@@MsVamPireChic Yeah, I remember it back in the 90s, but I haven't seen that gum in yeaaaars. So while older millennials and up probably got it - I can understand if younger millenials and gen z people didn't get it lol. But yeah, you explained it pretty well - the gum also would have a promo where you could send in the wrappers for a necklace, hence that bit.
@DanJackson19772 жыл бұрын
@Samar3n Bazooka Joe jokes were fucking terrible. The joke is Bob is playing a comic that is "so bad" he has to read Bazooka Joe comics to get material, while trying to tell though through gum chewing. It's kind of a commentary on how bad "stand up comedy" was in this era... it was an industry in the 80s and early 90s.. and there were A LOT of hack comedians. Bob was part of the "alternative comedy" scene.. which was pushing back against "mainstream" comedy... basically just thumbing their nose at anything that was "traditional" in comedy... which, if you've ever watched "MR. SHOW", Bob's 90s HBO show... you'd see what that's all about.
