I first saw Bob Odenkirk on Garry Shandling's The Larry Sander's Show. I thought he was a good actor but could never imagine him as being "funny funny". Then I stumbled upon Mr. Show in the mid 90s and realized one of them was the not "funny funny" guy from Sander's, except he was hilarious. I learned a valuable lesson that day which could be summarized "Bob Odenkirk is hilarious".

He just gives all the credit to them and moves on. He is such a natural fit in this role of Saul Goodman. I really couldn't see anyone else doing it and who would have imagined this guy of all people. I mean don't get me wrong, I am a fan, but would not have imagined he would be so great in a dramatic tv show and also very funny. It's easy to like and root for Saul Goodman because of how great Bob Odenkirk plays him. Sounds like the creator had a hunch though.

Being from the UK I never got the chance to see Mr Show when it first aired, now having seen it I have I can honestly say I have never seen a sketch comedy team come as close to Python as Mr Show. The sketches were free flowing, outrageous and absurd like they were writing to amuse themselves. Everyone associated with it should be very proud

Same here - I would have ADORED that show as a teenager, but wasn’t aware of it until like a decade plus later. The ‘sketches morphing into other sketches and then calling back to other sketches and all tying together in a big bow’ thing was, as far as I’m aware, done by basically nobody between the Python series and Mr Show - it was the first thing I thought of when I finally caught a full episode rather than just isolated sketches.
