I'm not an oil painter, rather I work with watercolor, but I can't help but watch these. His attitude towards painting is so refreshing, just a relaxed approach, he really makes a good instructor. He has got one of the most calm voices, I ever heard, and it was an extreme surprise learning that he was in the military, in a position which usually requires the person to be stern and hardened. In just the few episodes I've watched thus far, I've come to respect him, and really enjoy his painting style. All the more that I'm fully saddened to know that he has since passed... Thank you for the legacy you left, which inspires other artists, or those yet to be. For that, we will remember you fondly.

Emily Black I agree...and so was Bill Alexander. Bob was Bill's student ya know. Both were such kindhearted, free spirits; and both were funny to watch...especially Bill Alexander. He was like your crazy German grandfather, sharing his techniques with such child-like enthusiasm. Bill coined all those familiar phrases like "the almighty brush" and "happy little river." You can definitely see the influence he had on Bob Ross. But apart from that, each artist had their own unique stylings.

When I was little and I couldn't fall asleep my mom would tell me to just put on the TV and watch my favorite show. Going on PBS around 1 or 2am, Bob's show would be on. The first time I heard his voice I felt so at ease. Being a 5 year old who was scared of the dark and to sleep by herself, I looked up to him as my best friend. I literally grew up while watching him on TV. He was always there whenever I was scared at night and even after I wasn't scared anymore. His voice would soothe me and the next thing I knew, I was asleep. I always resort back to watching his videos whenever I'm stressed or in a bad mood. He just has a way to calm anyone. Not to mention the fact that he inspired me to go into the arts. I thank him for so much. I'm sad he's gone. The legacy and impact he's made on my life is unforgettable & without him, I wouldn't have been able to grow up into the person I am today.

I've watched your plantings for years. First on tv then on my phone. I have talent but not financial funds. Before my father past away he bought me a one stroke book, some paints and brushes and made a beautiful painting and framed it for him. He was so proud. BUT my first love was your painting. That is true lovely ART. Your number one admirer. Debbie
