Bob Saget's Cause of Death Revealed

Bob Saget’s cause of death has been revealed. According to the Saget family, authorities determined the late comedian died from ‘head trauma’ after ‘he accidentally hit the back of his head.’ In a statement released to ET, the Saget family noted that authorities also determined ‘no drugs or alcohol were involved.’ Saget died on Jan. 9. He was 65.

This is shocking! I was not expecting this. This is why at the nursing home we monitor a patient immediately after, every 2-4 hours for 3 days after them hitting their head. If any change in behavior or vital signs they are sent to the hospital immediately.

My guess is you can hit your head pretty bad by falling from the stairs ONLY. They don't say that he fell from the stairs or had bodily injury. He could of fall being intoxicated , but he was not. It's not like he is 80+ and immovable. So it seems very fishy to me. Even if he would fall and hit his head he might get small concession which ppl may die from, but not necessarily. When you knock a body part, say your arm, on a hard surface, after a period of time your arm will swell because the knock might have bursted a few blood vessels & tissues there. But because your arm is surrounded by soft tissue (muscles & skin), it can expand & swell. The brain is protected by a bone, the skull (in latin: cranium). If after a fall / head bump a part of the brain bleeds or swells, there is no space to relieve that increasing pressure inside the skull. Early symptoms of increased intracranial pressure is headaches, dizziness. If this brain bleed goes on undetected, gradually the higher pressure will cause the patient to loose consciousness, seizures, and eventually, death. So it is imperative that patients suffering head injuries be monitored closely to observe any signs of deteriorating internal brain damage, even though at first he/she is conscious or has no symptoms.

This upsets me for so many reasons, most importantly because Bob was dear to my heart, but people need to wake up and realize how serious ANY head injury is. I survived a TBI when I was 8 years old after hitting my head against rocks, where I foamed at the mouth and my eyes went to the back of my head. There’s something called a “lucid state”, where you think you’re fine, and then it gets you suddenly and can kill tou instantly, especially if you go to sleep because you slip into comatose. My lucid state was 2 days, luckily my school noticed and I was rushed to the emergency room and survived, but this same thing happened to Natasha Richardson and now Bob. People PLEASE pay attention to head injuries, big ir small, they can ALL kill you!!! Bob, may you rest in eternal peace.

Several medical experts weighed in on an autopsy report that was released describing actor Bob Saget’s cause of death, with several saying that details about his death are perplexing. Saget, 65, was found dead in an Orlando, Florida, hotel room last month, and this week, Orange County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua D. Stephany said he died of blunt head trauma. “It is the most probable that the decedent suffered an unwitnessed fall backwards and struck the posterior aspect of his head. The manner of death is accident,” the report said. His family earlier said that he hit his head and decided to sleep it off before he was found dead. But Dr. Jeffrey Bazarian, an emergency physician and concussion expert at the University of Rochester Medical Center said that such an extensive injury that was described in the report would not have likely been ignored by Saget, formerly a star of “Full House” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” “It’s like an egg cracking,” he told the New York Times. “You hit it in one spot, and it can crack from the back to the front.” The injury, Dr. Bazarian said, would have left him confused or possibly unconscious. “I doubt he was lucid,” Dr. Bazarian added, “and doubt he thought, ‘I’m just going to sleep this off.’” An autopsy report that was released alongside Stephany’s statement said Saget had posterior scalp abrasions, subgaleal hemorrhage (blood that forms between the scalp and skull), discoloration of the eyelids due to the fracture, subdural hematoma (a buildup of blood on the surface of the brain), and subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding in the space that surrounds the brain). Another expert, Dr. Gavin Britz, the chair in neurosurgery at Houston Methodist, also appeared to question the autopsy report’s findings. “This is significant trauma,” Britz told the NY Times. “This is something I find with someone with a baseball bat to the head, or who has fallen from 20 or 30 feet.” In making reference to the report showing that Saget had fractures to the bones in the eye socket, known as the orbital bones, Britz said that “if you fracture your orbit, you have significant pain.” The Orange County Sheriff’s Office previously said there were no signs of foul play. The autopsy report said Saget had COVID-19 and also noted there were signs of Klonopin, a commonly used benzodiazepine, and Trazodone, an antidepressant, in his system. No illegal drugs were detected. However, Dr. Neha Dangayach, the head of neuro-emergencies management and transfers for the Mount Sinai Health System, told the NY Times that usage of several drugs is a “very dangerous” cause of falls among older people. Hours before his death, Saget had completed a stand-up comedy show and was scheduled to perform others, according to Twitter posts he made. “I think what it reveals more than anything else is this was not a simple bump on the head,” neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a CNN correspondent, said Friday during a CNN broadcast. “When you read this autopsy report that may still be the case, but it was a pretty significant blow to the head.” And Dr. Megan Ranney, an emergency room doctor at Brown Emergency Medicine, suggested the autopsy report is incomplete. “Hi. ICYMI: This is not a ‘slip & fall’. This is not a minor concussion. This is MAJOR head trauma. My condolences to Saget’s friends & family. I hope that they get answers as to what really happened,” she wrote.

All i can say is everyone, i mean EVERYONE spoke highly of his loving character...look at it this way; He had a great show, was really excited about life, bumped his head and died with no suffering, in his sleep. @@lexuses3942 I am pretty sure its a myth that staying awake is what keeps someone alive from head trauma. He would have needed to go to hospital and have doctors assess him and possibly surgery. If he stayed awake, he could have easily fainted later or had a stroke or something else if the concussion was serious enough. Also I don’t know what the impact of the air pressure of being on a flight could have done to exacerbate things. But as the other person said, even if he did go to hospital, who knows if that would have been enough. It is a tragic situation to say the least. I just hope his family and friends and all the people he has touched find some peace and healing.

All these news outlets should follow up with a story about the dangers of Trazodone and other sleeping pills. They can cause you to fall when you have to get up to pee in the middle of the night. The something happened to my uncle; he was on an anti-depressant and couldn't sleep so the doctor gave him Trazodone. He got up to pee in the middle of the night, fell and sustained an injury that killed him. People need to know about this.

When I was 15, the side of my head like above my ear got hit by a golf ball. I blacked out for a minute but got up and left the golf course with my cousin and her kids. I started feeling sleepy, so my cousins asked the kids to annoy me so I stay awake. No one brought me to the doctor however, thankfully nothing happened and I'm 37 now. When I tell friends or people I met about it, they said I was very lucky as that could have killed me. At that time I didn't realize how scary the situation was as I wasn't feeling any headache just a lot sleepy. But yes, anything like that happens again or some hit on the head...I won't ignore it and go straight to the doctor.

When i was 5 i fell from the highest part of the couch, the part where you usually rest your head when you are sitting on the couch. I was walking on it, pretending i was a gymnast walking on a beam. And then i slipped and fell from that height on the floor. I had hit the back of my head. It was so painful. I still remember everything. I was so dizzy afterwards, i couldnt even stand. But my parents decided not to take me to the doctor. I realize how lucky i was i didn't die. However, i started having headaches after that like every day and my vision was getting worse. So they took me to the doctor months later and they said i had to wear glasses. To this day, i still have headaches often and i still wear glasses because i can't afford surgery yet. But i can't stop wondering if it changed other things aside from my sight and headaches, like my personality.

I have to say when I go that would be a better way to leave this earth oh I'm just going to take a little nap I feel tired I lost my 20 yr old daughter she passed away while.i was at work I often think how she died was she just tired and went to sleep and died I came home cuz she wasn't answering the phone her eyes were closed thank God she looked like she had fell asleep on the couch still very sad 💔 I miss her everyday and will miss Bob he seemed like a beautiful person my daughter was a loving caring young lady may one day we all get to be together with the ones we loss and love ❤️

He basically died of blood loss and lack of oxygen because his brain was losing blood when he hit his head he didn't think it was a big deal he tried to sleep it off but when he didn't realize that he was losing blood rapidly and basically died of lack of oxygen and blood loss to his brain

He may have thought he had a simple head injury but in some cases, blunt force trauma that cause concussion like that will lead to a severe cerebral hemmorhage.

I Leah karlsen am sorry 😐 that Bob Saget had head trauma that means that Bob Saget hit his head on some thing and that some thing was he hit his head on a head board and he had a bruise on his back of his head and that is what killed Bob Saget. Bob Saget hit his head very hard on the head board when he got into his bed 🛌 at the hotel 🏨 in Orlando Florida where he was spending the night there for one ☝️ night and then he was going to go back to his house 🏡 and stay there after he was doing his comedy show by himself. Bob Saget died on January 9th,2022 but I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ what time he died in the hotel 🏨 that he was staying at in Orlando Florida. some years back while living with a family member...I was in the laundry room area and the door was loose and hit the right side of my head. I didn't feel right afterwards so I went to the ER and they checked me out I was alright but the slightest amount of trauma to the head can make you feel bad...but Bob Saget had extrem amount of head trauma...I wondering if he had a fall in the shower which is possible...that's how a fracture my right hand a few years ago...maybe he passed out then woke up but still out of it and stumble to his bed to try and sleep it off?

This is so bizarre. I would have never guessed head trauma was his cause of death. He did have a long night performing his comedy act. Being older like Bob, we are more inclined to trip or fall. Very scary to think a fall that involves a hit to your head can end your life. So sad the world lost such a shining light like Bob Saget. This was an inside job someone left his belongings to make sure it didn’t look like a Robbery. They wanted the money in the safe. They knew he was there they were tipped by someone who worked there they waited in the adjacent room prob put a bag over his head and hit him and took money ! Then they took the bloody bag off his head and put him to bed he was murdered and they video mysteriously was deleted when those ppl left the hotel

As someone who has taken Trazadone, if he did take this medication that evening, I can anecdotally attest to the strangeness of that sleep medication and how it can result in some weird scenarios. Usually just extreme fatigue and the most vivid dreams you’ve ever experienced. Hmmm.
