Athena Woods With all due respect, what a crappy thing to say to the guy. Why burst the man's bubble. Besides, who are you to say that Bob Seger isn't reading this. I just don't understand your need to reply to his comment in such a way. Why take away the man's little bit of hope that perhaps he IS reading it? What purpose does that serve?

I fell in love with the music and the man and band when I was 14 years old. Every up and down, every in between Bob was always there. How deeply music moves us, heals us. I grew up on Michigan's inland rivers...most are small and slow and quiet. I can remember a timeless, one with the universe feeling while being on them. And then some people would come along or you see some trash and you realize we really aren't good for the planet. All the other animals live in symbiosis...why did we have to lose that ? It's a shame.

My grandfather saw his last show of the 2017 tour, in Pittsburgh. He was dying of cancer, it was his last outing. He LOVED Bob, and I grew up hearing this... was also a skilled fisherman. That show was September 28th. My grandfather passed November 3rd 2017. Just lost my best friend on November 5th this year. He held me together through the passing of my grandfather. Still very messed up about my Pap, doubly so now that my friend is gone. Bob is keeping me together. Songs like this... feels like he (Seger) witnessed our lives.

@JeffDayne Жыл бұрын
This is as near song perfection as can be done. No surprise to many who have commented. As an explanation of why or how, (albeit not nnecessary), musically, the words and the chords flow downstream, just like a river. The chords go from the major root, to the minor sixth, then float down to the fourth, back to the fifth, then repeat. The bridge flows all the way downstream to C, the third of the root major chord. Scary simple, so sweet. Bob Seger, thank you for your contribution. I took my teenage daughter to one of your concerts, a highlight of both our lives. Betty Lou was gettin down!❤️

I was his Capitol records promotion man in Detroit 1974-1978. He was a story teller. I was in search of stories to explain it all. Beautiful Loser, Turn the Page, East Side Story, Heavy Music, 2+2 after my brother was killed in Vietnam, Get out of Denver-my alienation, and then the hits. A story teller true and true. From Travelin' man to Beautiful Loser. It was a song. It was a story. It was a part of my life.

I have canoed down that river many times, its always the most peaceful trip I love it, if you went down that river any time in the 90,s and earlier from grayling you would have passed by Doug Fosters homestead he was a great guy he had a home that looked like a log cabin with a rock wall by the river, he always had either native American or bagpipes playing on a cd right by the river some times he would wear a kilt other times a native head dress (some times both at the same time).
