@DayOne Reacts, In 1977, I was 17, anxious to get the hell out of Dodge, two years away from going to the Army, this song came out and literally everybody had a copy of this on the turntable and in the car...Bob Seger was perfect for those Drive In movie nights, before the movie started, your arm around your girls shoulder...I'm now 65 and miss those days long ago, there will never be anything like the 70's music again, and there will never be another Bob Seger. Rock ON!!!

Almost the same thing here. I was 17 in 1975, just out of high school, joined the Navy. I was stationed on a boat out of Hawaii. I had two roommates, one of whom loved Bob Seger. I ended up becoming a huge fan. I would frequent a "gentleman's club" where my favorite dancer's theme song was Seger's "Her Strut."

@@Tampahop I was 17 in the Navy and on my first Med cruise. The ladies at Clancy's a go-go in Norfolk used to dance to this.

When this song first came out, I was just entering adulthood. Now I’m retirement age, and am thankful for the wonderful and blessed life I’ve had. But I’ve lost a lot of friends and family along the way, and miss them terribly. What I would give to go back to that time and see them all again.

One of my favorite Bob Seger songs. Great storytelling and charismatic vocals. The keys and strings blend perfectly. To me it was a young man infatuated with an exotic dancer. From a time in a young man's life when he confuses love with desire.

Your reaction to this song is hands down the best! Your sway gave it away. Bob has such a distinctive voice that is recognizable by the first word of every song he sings. What an iconic pillar in music history this man and his band is to the millions of loyal fans. Great reaction. Long haired Bob, love it!

Bob Segar wrote the soundtrack to my life. I'm 60 years old now and he's been a scribe to my memories and experiences. From a tiny blue eyed blond girl who enchanted me and then one day far to soon, reached into my chest and ripped out my beating heart. Hollywood Nights, and then Night Moves about the first time in the backseat of a 66 Mustang, fast forwarding to Still the Same and Against the Wind....to the desperation of Roll Me Away and a chance to start over again. Good times!

His storytelling paints that picture of feeling like you're there. That slide guitar 🎸 had me down on Main St. One of many classics from Bob.
@charlessarver835010 сағат бұрын
Not a lick of slide guitar in this song. The main riff through out the song is using a delay and I did just notice the actual solo has some type of modulation going on. A Phaser maybe set really low. Definitely a great song. I play it all the time on guitar now I'm going to have to hook up and see if I can figure out that modulation in the solo.

The Main Street he is remembering is in Ann Arbor Michigan. In an interview he said that they had "Go-Go" bars that had women in cages dancing with the long boots (not a strip club) but a 60's Go-Go Bar. He said he wasn't old enough to go in. Great song. Main St and Ann St is in downtown Ann Arbor.

Love how Bob sounds here, but I really love that guitar line throughout the song! It just SOUNDS like there is a late afternoon, late August sunset shining on a guitar being played on the street of a small Midwestern town.

Took my wife to see BS a number of years ago. Her first rock concert. She doesn’t like really loud music but she loved it! I wore ear plugs for most of the songs as I have hearing loss. She never put hers in. 😂 I knew all but 3 of the songs. So good!

When I hear this song, I picture 🖼️ someone looking back at their past walking through the streets and neighborhoods of their youth longing for those days and people and all the peaceful and happy moments that were once experienced and now only ghostly 📝 memories and nostalgia of days gone by, but may return again one day! Who knows! Take care!

My first impression (many years ago) is that it was about a strip club. I have simce learned that it was about girls dancing in a pool hall.. Regardless this is one of my favorite Segar songs. His voice, the story, the vibe but most of all the guitar! To quote another one of his songs "that kind of music just sooths the soul". That's what the guitar on this song does for me.
