As a kid growing up in Australia I had huge admiration for Bob Willis. With that huge run-up he kept going and going all day and never gave up trying to get a wicket.He was all class on and off the field. RIP

I remember, as a young boy - bumping into a very tall Bob W in a hotel lift in Madras - when he was on the Eng 81-82 tour of India. Can recall his smile and a kind word exchanged. RIP Bob - we miss you.

I liked Bob Willis as a player. That England team of the 1980s was packed with talent. I used to look forward to them coming to Australia, especially the ODIs where Gower, Lamb and Botham were sensational.

Always fair. His take on the game was never less than insightful. Never afraid to tell the truth regardless of ruffling a few feathers. Above all, was a fantastic bowler, seriously quick in his pomp and with an indomitable relentless spirit

Hugely underrated as a bowler. Think it was 325 at about 25, that’s fantastic. Got lost a bit with all the talk of the West Indies, Lillee, Hadlee etc. Sounded like a good bloke too and great taste in music, changed his middle name to Dylan.

RIP Bob Willis. Great bowler. But he was on the receiving end when he conceded 25 runs in one over against INDIA in a test match in England. Sandip Patil scored all the runs (six 4's) and one no ball. From 77 Sandip Patil reached century in that over. Unforgettable over for Bobby.

I'd have thought the most prudent point here is that Bob Willis was doing a pretty good impression of Rutger Hauer (albeit in looks alone).
