I was worrying about where to get straw, and then I realized that for reasons of meadows being better than lawns, my backyard is filled with very long grass right now! Perfect happenstance. I think I may make my pillow smaller, as I don't really have a use for that much width. Now all I need to do is go buy some fabric scraps and get started!

I have seen sawdust and sand used I have used in the past an air filter for semi trucks used. I have used ethofoam and you are right I do not care for the light weight of it. Thanks for watching and commenting on my video

Thoughts on alternatives to straw? My husband has allergies and I'm allergic to the work of cutting the straw into little pieces. I've seen bolsters made from layers of fabric and I have read of stuffing them with sawdust. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I have seen one stuffed with wool roving instead, very very tightly.

I have an allergy to straw and hay, what are the alternatives to this?
@helenalford28317 жыл бұрын
i have read that you can use wool scraps, this apparently works as well. Straw is traditional.

I had seen another tutorial awhile ago for using sawdust (wood shavings) to make your lacemaking pillows. I had a carpenter friend collect some for me, but now I cannot find the tutorial again, lol!

Heather would probably work well, it's traditional for mattresses in Scotland

I wonder how paper that has been run through a shredder would work for stuffing?

Better ask the manufacturer!! If yes, then make sure you are going to oil those blades every so often ... but then it could get on the straw. Hmmmm. I would take it all outside - the straw, I mean.

This sucks. R u crazy pple? Might as well just stuff a sock with straws n call it a bolster pillow.
