The Cotswold Edge Railtour 21 Nov 1970

We join this Metro-Cammell 3-car unit railtour at Llanthony in the ex-GWR docks at Gloucester and are then conveyed to the ex-LMS docks at High Orchard. The tour continues along the line from Cheltenham to Honeybourne, where we make a stop, before taking the final section as far as Hatton.

Living in Gloucester long after most of the shown lines have disappeared it was wonderful to see how Gloucester once looked.

Fascinating snapshot of the city's goods lines, whose days were numbered even in 1970. The police presence to 'keep order' at Southgate crossing shows how bad traffic congestion had become by then, and which led to council pressure on BR to close the Eastgate-Tuffley loop thus eliminating four crossings.
