Any videos on the serratus anterior? I lifted my little dumbbells this past week 5 days in a row (hadn't done in almost 2 weeks as I was on vacation) and now having a little aching and maybe a slight swell on the outside of the left breast. All good with mammogram, heart and all the female stuff! ;) Left neck (SCM) and left shoulder blade area always seem to be a bit tight and I may have overdone it - are they all connected/attached to each other (SCM/shoulder blade/pectoralis major/serratus anteiror)? Thanks!

This was very informative, guys. I never knew about this condition, and yet I had an "aha" moment when Bob put the scapular muscle model over Brad's scapular area and did the demonstration. I recall seeing people with winging shoulder in the past and wondering why their shoulder blades looked so pronounced. Now I know!

My left scapula is nearly getting out of my back. The most painfull thing is when it gets out, it applying pressure even to my traps. İ know that i need to go to a physiotherapist but i cant actually afford one. Thats why i am searching for some information. Thank you for giving me that Bob & Brad.

The best position to get that knot is to get someone to use a tennis ball, or gua sha blade or a massager to push into the knot while you put the arm cross your chest. This is the only way you can expose the knot "under the shoulder blade" to be able to work on it.

This video is very important as it gives away what I think is a great activation exercise. It works well for me now that I tried it. Did You notice how they emphasize that You should hold Your arm and hand as if You are hitchhiking ? As I sit on my butt on the floor in front of my television with my legs straight pointing to the TV I adapt their recommendations into an exercise where I put BOTH arms straight out from the body in a 90 degree angle to my legs as if I was hitchhiking with BOTH arms. Thumbs pointing away from my television of course. Then I lift both arms simultaneously until they are straight above my head (thumbs still pointing backwards), As I do ten of these armlifts I engage lots of other muscles in the body that are important for the posture. After doing these ten moves I feel how also my abs, my muscles along the spine a well as my neck muscles have been activated and I sit more straight and my neck is more straight. This is great for rounded shoulders and forward head posture and improves my posture overall. The serratus anterior (the muscle that is the prime mover for the scapula) is a superimportant muscle that we all need to activate and strengthen and when we do it is better then a facelift and a lot cheaper, healthier and simpler to do :-). THIS was a great and simple way to activate the serratus anterior before You do any exercises involving the arms and shoulders !! KUDOS to BOB and BRAD for this video !! I wish they would do another longer and more detailed video covering problems and possibilities with the serratus anterior muscle ...using it the right way CAN do wonderful changes for many people.

what if the scapula is potruding
@sophiexiedpt27044 жыл бұрын
Ohh, the push up is haarrrrd, especially with pinched shoulder blades. Winging just means that your shoulder blades pop up when you are using your arms. It is a sign of weakness in the muscles around the shoulder blade. Having it is not painful, you are just more likely to get hurt when you suddenly start to use your arms more for lifting and carry. It can be related to poor posture. But more often is a sign of decondition, something after shoulder injuries.

Can this be caused by accessory nerve shoulder dysfunction?
@sophiexiedpt27044 жыл бұрын
Yes. But if it is a nerve condition, the winging is very very obvious and usually unilateral (on one side only). People have weak shoulder muscles tends to have winging on both sides to a different degree.

@smilesmile73304 жыл бұрын

@kwaad7774 жыл бұрын
yes, when you are slouching you're mid/lower trapezium muscle are not working/inactif. And you're upper trapezium/ neck muscles are doing all the working. So watch this: Best Lower Trapezius Activation Moves: StabilityWOD 5. And also stretch you're chest muscles.
