Not even money, but in some countries its not possible to get to the physiotherapy or any other professionals just like that. In my country you need to go to your family doctor first to get a letter for any other services and until you dying (I am not even exaggerating), doctor wont send you to seek professional help. Not physiotherapy related but I have terrible period, that much painful, that for 2 days every month i have to be in bed because i am unable to walk. My family doctor said, some ladies have heavy periods and thats it. No blood test done, no scan, nothing.. and I really wanted to get to the gynaecologist (not sure if that's the word).

I'm glad I found this channel. I suffer from chronic migraines and ever since I started physical therapy it has helped bc I am tense and have knots in my shoulders and neck and work at a computer all day. I'm 31 and would like to get these problems under control before it gets even worse. It's very painful. Are there any devices you'd recommend for neck tension? Theres so many online/Amazon. Thanks for making such informational and educational videos!

I did a lot of weight lifting on an old universal machine in the navy, didn't really know what I was doing and got real tight. That was over 45 years ago. I can get my arms on the floor in the cross position but over head it's still a no go. It is improving though. Thanks for all the info guys.

You can stand in a doorway, place a hand on each side of the door frame, elbows bent and take a step forward, like you're going through the door but your hands are stopping you. Same as pulling exercise bands towards you. If taking a step is too much, lean into it

Both are correct! The doorway stretch is great for stretching tight "chest" muscles and the pulling action, drawing your shoulders back toward your spine, aka rowing, strengthens the back muscles that are weak. So, to sum it up, stretch the tight chest and strengthen the weak back muscles at the same time.

I’d love some ideas for those of us with disabilities who can’t lie/get down on the floor, and those of us with osteoporosis who have to avoid compression/pressure on the spine. I can’t figure out how to break up the tight spots, and I feel a lot of tightness. Very rounded shoulders.

Besides the posture exercises, since you both stress problem is tight muscles, wouldn't first using a massager be beneficial to help loosen those mussles before even doing the exercises?
@lisathompson7335
@lisathompson7335 3 жыл бұрын
Your chest muscles are tight, your back muscles are weak....therefore, you need to stretch "tight" muscles and strengthen "weak" muscles. You need to draw your shoulders back toward your spine, in order for you to utilize those weak muscles and open/stretch chest, to open /pull back those "tight" muscles. 😘

Massage can definitely help loosen things up. And hey, who doesn’t enjoy a massage? (OK, sometimes it’s uncomfortable when the therapist has to work out tight spots). I’m not a personal trainer or an exercise expert, but the last time I checked, it’s a good idea to be warmed up before stretching. It probably doesn’t matter whether you do it with gentle exercise working up to a stretch, or having a massage on a nice heated table with warm blankets, or taking a nice Shower with a hot water spray pointed at the area that needs stretching before doing your warm-up and stretch exercises.

@lisathompson7335 3 жыл бұрын
Approximately, chest height, or slightly lower. I'm a Personal Trainer and you want the direction of resistance to be opposite of muscles working. In other words, weights/dumbbells rely on gravity to create tension, whereas bands, should be set up, opposite the muscles that you're trying to work. Hope that makes sense to you. 😊

I have a stretchy band that has a ball on a cord on it. I put the little ball and cord halfway along the stretchy band and it locks into place in a doorway with a shut door. Very convenient, no permanent installation required. I imagine anyone could create this with Any stretching band by just tying some cord onto it and then tying the cord onto something that would keep the door from opening.

@Ghandi Blyat - Because all of your bones are hooked together. If you were a shoe with a heel that’s even a Centimeter tall, you are already throwing off your posture. And that little thing can sit in to play a cascade of compensation that Creates friction and damage. Especially in this dehydrating world we live in. Other things play a part, but posture/alignment is part of it. there are some very enjoyable, readable books by a guy named Pete Egoscue on this topic. His exercises prevent people from having to get surgery on their bones and joints sometimes, or they help rehabilitate them and prevent further recurrence is afterward. I love the case studies and I really like the drawings that show The different ways that misalignment shows up. I was interested, but not surprised, to learn that if a pregnant woman has a hip misalignment, it can either stall delivery or create a delivery that is too fast, Depending on the direction of the misalignment.

@bitrudder3792

Chronic pain comes from a lot of sources. Dehydration and toxicity to name just a couple. that info is not going to come from an orthopedic doctor that you might go to, or a family doctor. It can also be from scar tissue that forms between the muscles and the fascia overtime. Enzymes and exercises and diet changes and staying hydrated with water that your body recognizes can do a world of good, as can rational therapeutic fasting that’s appropriate for your situation. Bob and Brad have a Lotta videos so they might have already made some on the topics you are interested in. I also like some of the books by Pete Egoscue Because it has really good drawings of how we tend to be misaligned and exercises to help correct the different problems. most people have habitual ways of moving that are not comprehensive enough to protect us from being misaligned, just like some sports create patterns that make us misaligned because they don’t use all the muscles. He has made a career out of helping people Fix that. They even have clinics in different parts of the United States. I don’t know if they have expanded anywhere else yet. But I have done the exercises right out of the books.

@Ghandi Blyat I'm currently in the hospital rn fo it I just can't move it do to pain
@bitrudder3792
@bitrudder3792 3 жыл бұрын
@@josefsterner1025 - yeah, you don’t want to do anything to dislodge a blood clot in your leg. It needs to resolve first, completely. Otherwise you could end up with a much bigger disaster than being in pain in the hospital. But you could check with the doctor to see if it is OK if you lay on your back flat with a Rolled towel under your spine, and the nurses should be able to help you with that. The second best thing would be to have a rolled up towel under your spine with The head of the bed elevated as high as they need you to have it for your particular situation. You can still get a gentle stretch across the front of your chest that way. You might not want to do the part where the arms are stretched out or raised above your head if you don’t want to knock out an IV if you have one of those. if they question why you want to do it, obviously you can’t explain you are concerned about your posture but most importantly this little resting exercise will also expand your lungs to help you breathe better, and whatever helps you breathe better will help you avoid complications of being in the hospital. I hope that you are able to move enough to avoid being in one position all the time, otherwise any mucus in your chest can settle in one place and help feed infection. in nursing school we were always taught to turn patients and get them to cough every couple of hours to prevent pneumonia. I don’t know how strict people are with this these days. It seems as though a lot of nursing knowledge has gone by the wayside in favor of technology and drugs. But yeah. It is in your best interest to have full lung capacity as you heal. And if you get an extra bonus of stretching out tight muscles, all the better. If they are really tight you might be able to get them to bring you a hot pad of some sort as those muscles in front stretch out. The main thing: make sure that what you do isn’t contra indicated for your situation, and don’t do anything to dislodge the clot in her leg.

@bitrudder3792
@bitrudder3792 3 жыл бұрын
This is when you get a new chiropractor. I had one chiropractor that was kind of cool, except he moved his practice to another town that was a bit too far away from me. But he incorporated whole body vibration machines into his practice. After each adjustment, the patient would go stand on a whole body vibration machine, with the idea that every cell of every muscle is going to get a bit of a work out in the properly aligned position, to help hold the adjustment more permanently. It is not suitable for people with retinal detachment, implants of certain kinds, and a few other conditions, but I really appreciated the effort trying to create a more permanent solution for his patients. The other chiropractor I see is happy to answer questions on exercises, as was the massage therapist that I used to see before he changed employment. Oh my gosh. I just noticed your name. My husband does not have a lot of time to exercise, And he feels like a bit of a klutz so he doesn’t like the idea of jumping on my Cellerciser trampoline (which exercises every cell of your body also), so I started researching whole body vibration machines to see if I could get one for him. Since I’m a nurse and a geek researcher, I had to learn about every single kind of machine and all of the kinds of movement that they provide, along with warranties and guarantees and clinical results blah blah blah. The machine I ended up choosing for him is put out by a woman named Becky Chambers. What a coincidence, 🤣! Anyway, they were pricey but she has been in the business for a long time and claims that she sees more positive clinical results with a whole body vibration machines that only do a vertical motion, especially for more fragile or elderly people. she has the opinion that the more destabilizing types of whole body vibration machines can create problems. I haven’t seen in a clinical data on that, though. Anyway, Her WBV’s were a bit more expensive than others, but she has been in the business for a long time and claims that the vertical motion is best for more fragile or elderly people (and my husband & I are getting to that point), so I waited for a sale and got the one that is designed for that demographic. she sells larger ones that allow people to do exercises on them more easily, and to use weights. The platform movement turns standing still into an exercise, and amplifies any exercise that you do while on the machine. Conveniently, The one that made the most sense for our situation (the gentle 500) was the least expensive and doable for the budget, especially on sale... it was a good sale, right at The Christmas holiday).I did not mean to do it advertisement, lol, but your name reminded me...And I am apt to do essays in the comment section. Have a great day!

When you're lying on the foam roller and you're talking about going past your body to do an extended stretch, I did that once while standing, using resistance bands to go beyond the vertical of my body, and I popped a rib out of place. Also, standing with your back against the wall can give a false reading if you have a voluptuous female butt. This video needs to take into consideration alternate body types beyond your stick figures.

I am very rounded, bent back. Various reasons. I am ugly. Taken me years to try not to be ashamed. Wish this could straighten me, but nothing can unfortunately. :(

Most people can't pass the hand test - almost all palms are to the back. In younger people. I am finding most under about 25 can't fully extend their arms.

Not hiring someone for their posture! For shame… I have rounded shoulders - it doesn’t make me stupid or a bad person - you should point out that judging aptitude by appearance isn’t acceptable.

I've read that rounded shoulders may by caused by a breathing issue and so the body compensates by moving the head forward. Bob may have something wrong with his occlusion and I would bet money he has a tongue tie or a lip tie (has a bit of a speech impediment and he clenches because his masseter is quite developed). He might need Myofunctional therapy, a frenectomy and/or orthodontics. Exercise till kingdom come, but you still need to treat the underlying cause.

I think is the other way. Rounded shoulders cause breathing problems.

@@CoNSu_11 how did the shoulders get rounded in the first place?. When the airway is blocked, we move our head forward just a bit to compensate and be able to breathe, over the years the shoulders become rounded because of forward head posture.

@@eleanorrigby2923 in daily life we use more internal rotation than external rotation of the shoulders, with time, shoulders got fixed in that rounded posture, and then, breathing problems arrive. Internal rotation movements, include PC and cellphones usage, brushing teeth, brushing hair, also, sitting for long periods promotes it. And if you're a girl, well breast weight and gravity contribute to the equation.
