It's still a great story after all these years. Thanks for sharing another "Brady" episode. I can really understand Bobby's constant drive to prove himself capable of winning anything, whether it's selling magazine subscriptions or winning an ice-cream contest. Just anything to show himself that he's just as good as the other Brady kids. As I see it, it's a matter of pride for Bobby...and that also means not wanting Mike's and Carol's well-intentioned help sometimes. When you really get right down to it, it's about keeping up with the Bradys, not Joneses!

Most kids today don't know what magazines are.

I remember a few years ago having magazine subscription sales as a school fundraiser. Both my teacher and I agreed it was stupid and that the guy's sales pitch (they had someone come in representing the company) which included such things as "people are buying magazines anyways" and "I got my dad to sell magazines like the sports ones at the office when I was a kid." Were NOT in fact relevant to even that time as the internet would be the main source for any info. I did manage to sell a couple out of what I felt was obligation (I think one was my grandma's renewal of Our Canada) but even though I didn't meet the threshold for the big school sleepover prize I still went as I was on the Student Representative Council who ran the event.

When I was Bobby's age I got the words "prescription" and "subscription" mixed up.

Always telling. Her hair is longer than I thought, seen when she is brushing out the curl.

I remember as a kid selling "Grit" newspapers. I would ask people, "Would you like to buy some Grit"? One guy corrected me and told me it wasn't "some" Grit, it was just Grit. I don't think I did a very good job being a salesperson, though.

I remember the Grit Ads in Comic Books trying to recruit Kids to sell it. Surprisingly it's still around, as a Magazine published Bi-Monthly.

I can understand Bobby's pride, and it's commendable, but does he suppose that his competitors -- including the kid that got him into the competition in the first place -- were not also getting help from their parents and their parents' friends? It's a good lesson of how to build up a business, young feller -- networking.

Those were the days when people actually admitted up to making mistakes.

I remember the scene with bobby watching the TV with his donkey mask on (well this whole episode) like it was yesterday. And that was far too many decades ago now.

How did Cindy know? I doubt Mike or Carol would have told any of the kids they did that.

First of all if I was a parent, they’d be no way Cindy would know that’s sort of ridiculous number two. I grab my kittens and get your ass down here and pick up this mess and all we did was suggest it you’re the one that did the sales pitch. Don’t act like a bab😀
