And this was a tame concert for Bobby's standard. Japan is really conservative. He was wildin' in the U.S back then. I'm pretty sure he was arrested more than once for public lewdness. Damn near having sex on stage. This concert is virgin olive oil light and it's still amazing.

Thank you for posting this. Most people at this point know Bobby Brown as this goofy drug addict who may have brought Whitney Houston down. But people need to see him at his best. He, along with artist like Janet Jackson, really fused together hip hop and R&B together at a time when those were considered two separate genres of black music. Even just seeing a DJ scratching next to live drums, guitars, background vocals, saxophone players really legitimatized hip hop as this serious and adaptable sound. We see it all the time today and take it for granted, but this was really pioneering music. I wish Bobby knew then that he didn’t need Whitney Houston’s level of fame to be loved and appreciated. He was enough.
