Bobby was 'that man' back in the day, and the Queen Bee Whitney Houston loved the ground he walked on back then. He didn't age well, but that's okay, he still was cold-blooded in his prime years, and VERY few men can say that at one time, they were the 'ladies' pet, and the men's regret...But Bobby can!

I was in the navy in 1990,stationed at Nas Oceana,Va Bch,Va-I was in an attack squadron-VF-84 ( Jolly Rogers )an air-wing attached to the USS Roosevelt ( an air-craft carrier ) and we'd go to the enlisted and dance up a storm. LOL. Fun times.

Theses two songs was from his second album ''Don't Be Cruel''. He was a member of ''New Edition'' and was dropped of the group by others members of the group and he started his solo career. The medias treat him so bad to trying to have a impact has a solo artist after the others members of ''New Edition and was so much compared to the others member for his sound. His debut solo album was only a minor hit was more RnB classic, but he changed his sound when he started to work with Babyface when he started to work to his second album. He also work with Teddy Riley (the producer of the New Jack Swing at the 80's and 90's) who produced ''My Perrogative''. When he arrived with the first single of the album, the title track in may 1988, the RnB radios refused to playing a RnB track including rap in most of the song (it's a mix of RnB contemporain and hip-hop/rap) and the record company make a lot of pressions of the radios to playing the song. In fact, the hip-hop radios adopted the song ''Don't Be Cruel'' and was massive in urban market, but in RnB and pop, it was difficult and with the perssitance of MCA, the radios started to slowly introduce the song in rotation. But the public was so receptive, so it's started to slowing gained more and more impact with months. THis is the reason why this song took so long to climb the charts in the US charts. It's took 5 months after the released and 3 months after it's enter on the charts to finally enter the top 10, reaching n.8 in october 1988, the same week who ''My Perrogative'' came out has the second single of this album. When the second single was released, this time, the radios not hesited to playing Bobby Brown songs in high rotation and the rest of history, Bobby Brown was the biggest star of 1989 and produced five top 10 single with this album in 1988 and 1989. I didn't know if you like the title track, becauser this was life changing to introduced hip-hop in the mainstream and and was a song who he give a impact at the long term for all generations of futhers hip-hop and RnB artists.

So crazy how the song was hated on because of its hip hop elements

@@EmpressReacts The rap was not so much popular in the 80's and outside Blondie with rapture, no others songs with rap gained impact in mainstream before this song or ''Red Red Wine'' by UB40. If it's wasn't the title-track (Don't Be Cruel), i wasn't sure that the impact of the hip-hop and rap have during the 90's and it's paid off when it's enter in the top 10 five months after the released and was the first of five top 10 singles of this album. The mix of the hip-hop/rap urban sound with the RnB touch of Babyface and L.A. Reid production in this album (since Babyface and L.A. Reid produced almost all the album, Teddy Riley produced two tracks of the album, including ''My Perrogative'') make him a star in 1989 and pionner of this genre for the 90's. The next album (the self-titled album) just continued the same formula of this album and continue success but the winds started to turning around the period who he achieved his last commercial success with this self-titled album. The four next singles of ''Don't Be Cruel'' after the title track was all successful (''My Perrogative'', ''Every Little Step'', ''Roni'' and ''Rock Wit'cha'').

Making me feel old but yeah I remember this guy this song in particular of the radio, I was digging it and I was laughing with you. Then for some reason, I let myself get down. I started thinking about his daughter and Whitney and how he must be doing. How impossibly sad. Sad abd unfinished that whole business of their deaths are.

I grew up in the greatest era of music, form the late 80's, which is this song-album, to the mid 2000s, and Bobby was him, hate him or not!!!! PS Whitney was Whitney, before she met him, so let it rest. Clive Davis was and still is the problem, but he's black, easy to blame him,.. check the facts on Clive Davis......he killed a lot of our great artist, Whitney is just one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
