I’ll always wonder how the next Overkill album would have sounded like if Gustafson stayed. I love Horrorscope, but Bobby G’s riffs were some of the best in thrash history.

Just listened to a recent interview with Bobby and he sort of complimented that album, based off the fact that Rob Cannavino is a buddy and that clearly Terry Date was going for the same guitar tone that the band had from The Years of Decay. That's why I don't feel there's a huge drop off in the Overkill sound. Even though I own all of their albums, the best years were with Bobby.

The two Bobbies, made a great team. Bobby Gustafson guitar playing was so damn awesome on all the albums it was such a painful thing for a fan of that time to lose a key member so early in their career due to band member differences.

@Pizzamonster The power in black EP was really rough. Feel the Fire and Taking Over both still were gritty (FTF more so) but definitely sounded more professional. Then again, Under the Influence, took another step to having a cleaner sound. All in, it's just opinion, but I feel like Taking Over has the best blend of raw grit and timeless powerful guitar riffs. Some Bobby's chords sound like he's ripping on a chainsaw. Fuck yeah.
