I seriously felt soooo bad for Kirk. I know first hand what it’s like to be in the middle when ya two besties be arguing or fighting. You’re like “do I mind ma business, do I get involved.” As much as James and Lars were struggling and battling, Kirk was struggling two. And the other two didn’t put mind into it because you know, they into they own pettiness and that’s the truth. And so glad they were able to speak up and be more open. I will say this, I’m glad Lars began to catch on to the Therapist they had. He began defending James and his decision making. That was the break through they needed. Realizing no matter what, they ALL got each other’s backs.

...which is a shitty mediocre album with uninspired drums, way too long songs with too many riff at once and a whole play safe record. Metallica really lost their focus. They collect riffs for 8 years and try to throw them in instead of going into the studio for 1 year and really refining their skills and practice to play better, sound better and just advance. Im a long time metallica fan but right now its just so disappointing to see what has become of them. Dont get me wrong, they ve come to terms with their problems and they are cool guys, they care alot about the fans but theyve become a people pleaser and turn their heads in directions with the least resistance...it kinda hurts to like them anymore
@AK-vs9nr
@AK-vs9nr Жыл бұрын
@@P3rm4frost What band stays on top for 40 decades or something? Thats impossible, just accept that they did enough in their lifetime. Megadeth and Maiden also deserve a lot of respect for example, but take a look at the majority of their stuff. Do you see ppl sh1t1ng on Sabbath because their last stuff isnt good like the beggining?
@P3rm4frost
@P3rm4frost Жыл бұрын
@@AK-vs9nr As i said, i have no problem with Metallica, they are still one of my all time favorite bands. But i think they should stop mediocre albums and just be on tour. Everything sounds so forced like "oh my god we need a record lets go into the studio quickly" and then they throw in all the riffs the have because they cant focus on some tight short hard hitting songs. The song "hardwired to self destruct" was so great because they had one riff, sit down for one week, put down some drums and lyrics and boom - done! I think metallica dont suck, they shouldnt be the top band forever and be loved by everyone. I understand that. All im asking for is a little more time to put in their craft and little bit of me-time where they dont focus on the public, media, fans, the yes sayers, the critics and just direct their concentration on the songs. Bob rock kicked their asses massively and they had to argue alot to really satisfy and impress Bob. I think thats missing nowadays. They need some tension, some conflicting...say it how you want but all their albums before 2000 were only so great because of all the fighting and screaming of hetfield rock and Ulrich. I really want to like this band and i dont wanna quit of them. I do worship them still and they can do all they want. But look at bands like exodus, overkill, kreator,....you can stil hear that theyve practice a LOT to sound better. Hetfield is the only one where i get that vibe that hes actually trying to push the band forward and plays better than before. All the others stick to their guns and just enjoy the ride... Im not hating the band or the fans....each to their own, really...maybe its time for me to move on...but i follow this band through their darkest times for almost 25 years now..i can actually understand reload load st anger and all the whacky stuff during the 90s, its not about that. I would love to hear some of that easy going vibe again. But i guess my expectation is a little bit too much to ask

@@P3rm4frost You're well in your right to have an opinion, but I just have to say that this take is full of shit. Now, you can say you don't like the album and why, but come on: - Too many riffs at once?! There are fewer riffs in one song compared to Stuff on Justice, Death Magnetic, and even St. Anger. And even then, they're fairly paced and Spaced within the songs. - They did spend a year(s) recording the record, and put the time into experimenting with riffs, rhythms, melodies, etc. The Playing and overall performance of the record was top-notch, Unless of course you were expecting Justice level instrumentation (by which they peaked as instrumentalist). - You call it Mediocre and Uninspired, I call it an Overall Good Time. To Me, it speaks of a band having a lot of fun with the writing and playing; and with the added production, it just sounds fresh. The Energy is there in the Thrash songs, and they play the Heavy songs with Pounding Conviction. And a safe record? Hardly. If they wanted to play it safe, they'd copy the formula's and ideas from previous works. 1st track is short as opposed to a longer song with a fancy intro like other albums, They did 12 songs instead of 8-9 like the 80s, A song like ManUnkind has an Odd-time signature Groove, etc. And People Pleasing? Explain. Cause Frankly, unless you're talking stuff Like Anniversary shows, They Hardly ever simply cater to the whims and Demands of anyone and the path they've been on since 2003 is anything but of little resistance. They're Metallica, Life is there's, and they live it their own way (Cheesy, I know, but it's true). If you can't see that, then feel free to wallow in your dissatisfaction with the band and let me and others enjoy Them for what they are. Either Bow out and Cherish What you valued in the band, or Keep Sticking around and enjoy the ride Until it Inevitably ends.

12:50 When James says: “Just rock man. Metal’s in my veins” - it’s called iron (the way he says that statement makes me laugh because he is trying to sound serious and tough, but doesn’t sound of the sort)
@krikwahmett5274
@krikwahmett5274 Жыл бұрын
Its cuz he’s being ironic (no pun intended), he’s referring to how he used to think, when he actually believed in that statement, when in the documentary he’s found better ways to deal with his feelings, and he’s comparing it to how jason is acting around that time, which is why he says “so I can relate to maybe where he’s coming from”. He’s not *actually* being serious there. Just thought I’d clear that up :)

When I first saw the film, I was shocked at the discordant appearance of the band members. As human beings, our minds change subtly with age, and sometimes we become sensitive and reactive to the ordinary things of daily life, or we lose ourselves and wander off in search of affection. However, as a fan, I am more than happy that they have reassessed themselves and regained themselves and united again to continue their band activities.

One thing I love about metal, hard rock, rock, funk, jazz, etc. musicians (all except the mainstream) is that as dramatic, charismatic, stupid, explosive, chaotic, immature, or larger than life they may be- they're fucking real and authentic. And that is why I love this artform and the people that give it life.
